Today, we're driving the energy transition with more than 30,000 of the brightest minds across 54 countries.Job DescriptionJob Overview:The Principal Subsea Engineer is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex Subsea-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Subsea Engineer may lead functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Subsea. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in Subsea as well as broad knowledge of the Subsea discipline within the Engineering function.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:Support subsea and offshore projects in performing design and installation engineering/analysis in a lead role and address various requirements for procurementProvide specialist skills and knowledge in the areas related to engineering and analysis including design codes related to subsea engineering and installation engineeringPerform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standardsApply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and nonstandard situationsCoordinate and engage in daily activities and schedule priorities for subsea engineering under limited supervisionTender engineering support with an emphasis on document review, preparation of subcontractor documents, CTR preparation, bid evaluation, and vendor selectionAssume responsibility for technical reports, design calculations, engineering analysis, and interface with third parties including subcontractors and verification bodiesRequired to attend and prepare for project progress meetings and departmental meetingsManage own time to meet objectives and (as Lead Engineer) forecast and plan resource requirementsWhen acting as Lead Engineer, in addition:Direct small or medium-sized Engineering teams as a Lead EngineerLead the Discipline engineering design of the assigned work area and complete it within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with standards, MDR, and project-specific procedures and to a high professional standardPlan, organize, and direct all aspects of Discipline execution on the assigned project including scope, deliverables, schedule, and all manpower resources- agree allocations with the Discipline ManagerEnsure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identifiedMaintain responsibility for progress and productivity, identifying any required corrective actionAct as project representative for the Discipline during meetings with the Project Team, Customer discipline lead, and relevant agencies such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, etc.Adhere to the safety and legal objectives of the companyTrain and mentor graduates and junior engineersPerform Installation Analysis for rigid pipelines and risers including CLAD and Lined pipelines from reel-lay and S-lay vesselsPerform Installation Analysis for flexible flowlines, flexible risers of various configurations, umbilicals (static and dynamic) and subsea structuresPrepare Installation Analysis models using industry-standard packages and post-process analysis results applying design criteria from industry codes and client specificationsSupport in the development of knowledge in the area of design and installation analysis related to subsea and offshore engineeringReview and (as Lead Engineer) approve third-party reports related to Installation Engineering and AnalysisUnderstand client requirements and develop solutions to address them, satisfying necessary codes and specificationsTake personal responsibility for design, analyses, and technical documentationLiaise with operational teams to support project engineering and be available for site visits and offshore trips when necessaryBecome fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues Interpret contractual requirements as they relate to engineering executionIdentify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates Provide similar support for Variation OrdersInterface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawingsMaintain close coordination with
