Job Description

The Associate Legal Counsel will support the legal function of the Group by providing legal advice and assistance on contractual, commercial, and regulatory matters across the organization’s operations. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, supporting project teams on legal issues related to EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects, managing legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.The position requires strong expertise inconstruction and commercial contracts, claims management, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance , with the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors.Key ResponsibilitiesContract Drafting & NegotiationDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range ofcommercial agreements including EPC contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, joint venture agreements, MOUs, NDAs, and supplier contracts.Provide legal support duringtender preparation and contract negotiations.Identify contractual risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential legal exposure.Project Legal SupportProvide legal support throughout theproject lifecycle, including bid stage, project execution, and close-out.Advise internal teams oncontract interpretation, obligations, variations, and contractual claims.Review project documentation to ensure compliance with contractual and legal requirements.Assist in the management ofcontractual disputes, claims, and variationsarising from project activities.Support preparation of documentation and legal strategies forlitigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution processes.Coordinate with external legal counsel on complex disputes and legal proceedings.Compliance & Regulatory MattersEnsure the organization’s operations comply withapplicable laws, regulations, and internal policiesacross jurisdictions.Assist in developing and implementinglegal policies, compliance frameworks, and governance procedures.Monitor regulatory developments and advise on potential legal implications for the business.Corporate & Commercial SupportProvide legal assistance oncorporate matters, commercial transactions, and partnership arrangements.Support legal aspects ofjoint ventures, strategic alliances, and commercial negotiations.Assist withdue diligence processes related to investments, acquisitions, or restructuring initiatives.Identify legal risks in contracts, transactions, and operations and propose mitigation strategies.Maintain accurate legal documentation and contract management records.Support initiatives to improvelegal processes, contract management, and risk control frameworks.Key RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)from a recognized university.8–12 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably withinconstruction, engineering, infrastructure, or EPC environments.Strong knowledge ofcontract law, construction law, and commercial law.Demonstrated experience inreviewing and negotiating EPC and commercial contracts.Experience supportingclaims management and dispute resolution processes.Exposure tomulti-jurisdictional legal environmentsis preferred.Professional legal qualification orbar admissionis an advantage.ExcellentEnglish drafting and communication skills.
