<div><p><b>JOB DESCRIPTION</b></p><h3>Overview</h3><p>The post holder is responsible for assisting lawyers, carrying out legal research and managing litigation and complaints.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Drafts legal documents and correspondence for the lawyers review</li><li>Organizes and maintains documents in a paper or electronic filing system</li><li>Coordinates the collection, review and production of documents</li><li>Maintains a law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes</li><li>Gathers and analyzes laws, regulations, court decisions, legal articles, documents and other data</li><li>Investigates case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources</li><li>Compiles information and prepares statistics, charts, graphs and other summaries to detail the findings</li><li>Assists in the preparation, filing and service of all court documents</li><li>Summarizes depositions, interrogatories and testimony</li><li>Organizes exhibits and assists with other tasks as required</li><li>Acts as a liaison between the Legal Department and outside counsel or the court, for scheduling and sharing information</li><li>Directs and coordinates external law firms' activity, including delivery and receipt of legal documentation</li><li>Attends incident or complaint-related meetings as requested by the General Counsel and minutes such meetings</li><li>Oversees complaints lodged by employees or other affected parties to assist the lawyers to reach a determination and provide a legal opinion</li><li>Facilitates and files complaints and cases with the Police and Prosecutor</li></ul><h3>Accountabilities</h3><ul><li>Provides accurate legal direction to leadership teams and staff on matters that influence SSMC</li><li>Manages compliance and risk for in-house counsel and other legal/administrative groups with complete accuracy</li><li>Ensures SSMC is in compliance with applicable business process laws</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><b>Experience</b></p><ul><li><b>Required:</b>2-3 years of progressive legal responsibility in a law firm or in-house</li></ul><ul><li><b>Desired:</b>Experience in a large healthcare facility</li></ul><p><b>Educational Qualification</b></p><ul><li><b>Required:</b>Bachelor's Degree</li></ul><ul><li><b>Desired:</b>Bachelor’s in Law or Business Administration</li></ul><h3>About Us</h3><p>At SSMC, we firmly believe that the human touch is a fundamental part of care.
