Reporting structureReports ToHead of MaintenanceDirect ReportsSupervisor, TechniciansJob Summary and PurposeThe Maintenance Engineer is responsible for proper functioning of equipment in industrial workshops. The Maintenance Engineer leverages deep understanding of maintenance strategies in‑order to contribute to day‑to‑day operational maintenance expertise and leadership and supports the Head of Maintenance in monitoring and implementing the strategies for managing the shipyard’s assets throughout their lifecycle. All work is executed to a high quality & auditable standard that is consistent with the company’s integrated management systems and policies. As an officer, a high level of trade skill and experience is demanded and is expected to be demonstrably applied to technical problems and monitoring of trades employees.AccountabilitiesDevelop a deep understanding of the yard specific maintenance strategy and support the Head of Maintenance in breaking strategy down into short to medium time horizon work plans and tactics. Support the implementation of all aspects of the Maintenance Strategy.Maintain CNC Equipment, PLC based Equipment, Hydraulic Equipment, Lathe machines, Roll press Machines, Plate cutting machines, Welding machines, blasting and painting equipment.Maintain Equipment in all the workshop facilities.Maintain utilities in all the workshop facilities.Maintain civil and structure of all the workshop facilities.Ensure proper functioning of electrical, electronic and communication components of the equipment.Prepare and manage all spare parts required for the maintenance of the Equipment and related assets.Assist Head of Maintenance in the preparation of maintenance strategies to reduce failure rates of equipment and improve maintenance KPI.Prepare RCA reports and provide Head of Maintenance with proposals for preventing repeat failures and ensuring lessons learned.Prepare scopes of work and tender documentation for subcontractors.Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with scope of work.Lead and supervise maintenance technicians.Prepare risk assessment and apply for required permits.Maintain maintenance records.Coordinate with relevant authorities and obtain approvals for any changes to systems and structures.Communicate upwards – training needs, process improvement suggestions and follow up on implementation.Schedule and prioritize work considering all available resources.The employee should prioritize wellbeing of themselves and their colleagues while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, adhere to all health & safety protocols, participate in wellbeing & wellness programs, and promptly report any concerns regarding the wellbeing of oneself & others in order to foster a culture of best practice.Demonstrate work behaviours consistent with company values and work within company policies, standards, procedures, and any legislative requirements.Ensure compliance to quality management procedures and controls to deliver high quality services and products.Follow all safety procedures and report lapses, if any. Monitor yard facilities and report to the Head of Maintenance.Ensure that SAP Module is maintained according to the schedule.Implement and monitor compliance to department budgets and raise any deviation requirement.Monitor approved subcontractors.Demonstrate leadership at a monthly section review meeting.Support execution of daily operations, making sure maintenance plans are met.Contribute with timely updates and inputs such as lead and lag indication data to inform stakeholders to support internal decision making and performance review processes.Model a collaborative and cross‑organizational relationship within and between maintenance and operations and support functions to ensure alignment to desired high performance culture.Foster an engaging culture of safety and productive work through role‑modelling Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions values.
