Job Description
PurposeThe IT Manager is the strategic and technical lead responsible for establishing, managing, and optimizing the project’s IT infrastructure. This role demands a high-impact leader capable of executing large-scale IT initiatives within a complex, greenfield environment. The IT Manager ensures that all IT systems, infrastructure, and technology effectively support operational needs.This position requires a dual-track leader, combining hands-on technical execution with strategic project governance. You will act as the critical link between site leadership and global IT resources, ensuring that technology initiatives directly support project milestones. The IT Manager is a trusted business partner responsible for aligning global standards with local operational success, enhancing both user satisfaction and operational continuity.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & LeadershipDevelop and implement a comprehensive IT project plan aligned with construction schedules and business objectives.Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT team capable of delivering innovative solutions under pressure.Act as the primary technical lead with external partners to ensure all IT specifications and standards are met.Foster collaborative relationships across the organization to align technology with project development stages.IT Infrastructure Setup and MaintenanceOversee deployment of all IT systems, networks, servers, and hardware at the site.Ensure infrastructure is robust for challenging construction environments and scalable for long-term operations.Coordinate with construction teams to integrate IT facilities, including server rooms, data centers, and cabling, into the site.Manage integration of multiple technology platforms to ensure seamless data flow.Lead installation and technical commissioning of compute and storage clusters.Implement WAN, LAN, and WLAN networks to provide critical connectivity for contractors, security, and engineering teams.IT OperationsLead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring optimal performance, 24/7 availability, and strong security.Manage IT budgets and resources, optimizing costs while deploying new technologies efficiently.Provide proactive troubleshooting and maintenance to prevent project delays.Serve as the primary authority for resolving high-impact IT/OT incidents.Act as the escalation point for all site-based IT service requests.Network Connectivity and Communication SystemsEstablish and maintain reliable communication links between the site, remote offices, and headquarters.Ensure seamless operation of mission-critical communication systems, including radios, intercoms, and VoIP.Security and Data ProtectionImplement cybersecurity measures to safeguard digital infrastructure and physical assets.Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.Conduct regular audits and security assessments to mitigate IT-related risks.Operational Excellence, Reporting, & Continuous ImprovementProvide regular reports on IT project status, timelines, risks, and challenges.Anticipate operational IT requirements and implement solutions proactively.Drive standardization and consolidation initiatives to improve infrastructure efficiency.Identify and implement IT innovations and best practices.Manage external service provider relationships to optimize performance and cost.Promote a security-centric culture across all technologies and user groups.SkillsQualifications and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.15+ years of experience in IT management or related roles.Proven track record in large-scale project delivery, budget management, and vendor oversight.Experience implementing and managing IT services according to best practices.Certifications in Cloud & Storage (MCSE, CCNA), Hardware (Cisco UCS, Dell), IT Service Management (ITIL v3/4), and Project Management (PMP, Prince2) preferred.Skills and CapabilitiesStrong financial acumen and budget management skills.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Reporting RelationshipsDirect Reports: IT team membersKey Internal Relationships: Site General Manager, regional leadership, global IT teamsKey External Relationships: Strategic IT partners and vendorsCore Values and Workplace DNAZero Harm Workplace– Prioritize safety in all operations and maintain a hazard-free environment.Responsible and Accountable– Take ownership, learn from mistakes, drive change, and lead by example.Partnerships– Build trust and transparency with employees, stakeholders, and communities.Build a Sustainable Legacy– Manage operational impact responsibly while contributing positively to local communities.Results Driven– Deliver fit-for-purpose solutions with disciplined execution and agile decision-making.World-Class People– Attract, develop, and retain top talent who act with integrity and pursue excellence.Honest and Transparent– Communicate openl
