Head of Year 12: Academic & Pastoral Leader

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Year 12 from August 2026. The successful candidate will lead the Year 12 cohort.Job Purpose:The Head of Year 12 leads the academic and pastoral development of students in their first year of secondary school. The role focuses on establishing strong routines, high expectations and a supportive environment where pupils develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes to learning.Key Responsibilities:Lead the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 12 cohort.Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement.Monitor academic progress and coordinate interventions where needed.Support and line manage Year 12 form tutors.Build strong relationships with parents and communicate effectively.Promote a positive year group culture through enrichment and student participation.Track attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, ensuring timely support.Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and compliance.Contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.SkillsProven leadership experience within a school setting.Strong understanding of pastoral care and student development.Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.Ability to lead and support staff effectively.Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; further qualifications desirable.#J-18808-Ljbffr
