Job DescriptionThe Electrical Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of electrical engineering and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward electrical problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Electrical Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.ResponsibilitiesPerform FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasksApply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignmentsPrepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and proceduresPrioritize and organize own work to meet deadlinesFocus on completing work within budgetsCommunicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activitiesGain familiarity with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter‑discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicablePerform successfully tasks with reduced supervisionRecognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead EngineerCan coordinate work with the design teamInterface with all disciplines to develop clash‑free designsInterface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawingsDocument substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to the Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline ManagerCan prepare electrical specifications for materials and equipment with the guidance of a Senior EngineerProvide required bid inputs as directedPrepare sketches of detailed design to guide designersAssist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials, and servicesProcurement assistance includes preparing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead EngineerReview MTOs for requisitionsProvide electrical input for mechanical package units (requisitioning, TBE, SDR)Check drawingsCheck engineering performed by others within the DisciplineReview and check vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessaryPerform design verification through single‑discipline checks and assist with inter‑discipline checks (IDC)Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concernsCheck final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approvedCapture Knowledge Objects and enter MDR’s K‑now systemDevelop an awareness of costs related to own work and of the disciplineInitiate and review material lists, P&ID, etc. for electrical equipment, systems, and services to detailing scopePrepare updated specifications and data sheets for electrical equipment and bulk materialsPerform electrical system studies and calculationsMust be able, under supervision, to determine the detailed aspects of an electrical distribution systemPrepare one‑line diagrams and schematic diagramsPrepare electrical equipment building layout drawingsPrepare lighting calculations and illumination study for the lighting systemPrepare load lists or update load lists issued by the customerParticipate in FAT & inspection and preparation & resolution of punch lists on arrival of skid or materialPrepare a spare part listReview the pre‑commissioning and commissioning index and provide technical assistance on‑site during pre‑commissioning and start‑up as requiredReview and provide input to secondary cable routing (branch cable trays, channel trays, single tubing, etc.) where detailing is not doneAdvise fabrication yard of installation locations for small E&I equipment that are not sufficiently detailed in the AFC drawingsPrepare cable drum schedulesPrepare area classification documents with the guidance of a Senior EngineerIdentify special tools, equipment, and requirements for commissioningCoordinate with vendors for installation pre‑commissioning and commissioningPrepare key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:Specifications and datasheetsElectrical load listOne‑line diagramsMotor control schematicsElectrical building and equipment layoutsBills of materialCable sizing calculationsConceptual studies and calculationsCost and planning studiesSupport Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to) the following:Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end‑product throughout engineering, fabrication, or constructionReport to and
