This role will support the technology needs of the CNN Doha production centre.We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Broadcast Engineer to join our new facility in an exciting news content environment in Doha Qatar. In this role you will provide operational support for broadcast and IT equipment and infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations troubleshooting issues and contributing to the continuous improvement of our systems.Key Responsibilities:Operational Support: Utilize your expertise to provide operational support for broadcast and IT equipment and infrastructure within an onair and fastpaced news environment. Respond promptly to incidents and resolve them efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted broadcasting.HighPressure Situations: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team in highpressure situations particularly during busier production hours.Project Initiatives: Proactively identify problems equipment renewal needs and opportunities for expanding the broadcast and IT infrastructure. Design and initiate projects that address these requirements contributing to the improvement and growth of our systems.System Configuration and Maintenance: Install and configure broadcast media hardware operating systems and applications. Utilize a wide range of server and cloudbased tools to interact with the production infrastructure environment at all levels. Ensure the systems are properly maintained and updated to optimize performance and security.Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong working relationships with local and remote support teams across broadcast and IT areas.Training and SelfGrowth: Identify suitable training opportunities and areas for selfgrowth to stay up to date with industry advancements and emerging technologies. Continuously enhance your skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the teams success.Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection: Work closely with cybersecurity specialists to proactively secure enterprise and broadcast infrastructure. Stay vigilant and implement appropriate measures to safeguard systems and data from potential threats.ITIL Process: Organize and facilitate daily operations within a formal ITIL process to ensure standardized and efficient procedures up to date documentation and the implementation of system changes.Technology Asset Management: Support technology logistics and asset management by tracking technology assets and ensuring adequate spares are maintained to meet business needs. Contribute to keeping the team organized and efficient in their operations.Additional Responsibilities: Perform assigned tasks and other duties as necessary to support the smooth functioning of the broadcast and IT operations in a multimedia content generating environment.Selection Criteria:Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.Proven experience in supporting broadcast and IT equipment and infrastructure preferably in a highpressure news environment.Strong knowledge of computer hardware operating systems and applications.Familiarity with a variety of computerbased tools used in a production infrastructure environment.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders.Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices is highly desirable.Familiarity with ITIL processes and methodologies is a plus.An understanding that we supporta news organisation that is onair 24 hours every day.Abilityto worka shift pattern which may include unsociable working hours.Working in supporting newsgatheringmay requireinfrequentinternational travelfor engineeringsupport.You will need to be passionate about wanting to pursue a career in technologywith an interest in news media.How We Get Things DoneThis last bit is probably the most important!
