OverviewThe Wall Street Journal is seeking a deputy bureau chief to help shape and shepherd our coverage of the Middle East from Dubai.Youll help reporters develop must-read stories about the most dynamic people and issues in the region. Youll work closely with the Wall Street Journals team of reporters throughout the Mideast helping them conceptualize high-impact stories and elevate breaking news with smart unique angles.The ideal candidate is equally comfortable handling breaking news editing ambitious long-form features and coaching reporters to produce their best work. You should also be comfortable jumping into the fray to write and report strong stories of your own.ResponsibilitiesImpeccable judgment and the ability to exercise it under intense deadline pressure.Sharp writing and editing skills alongside a deep appreciation for the craft of reporting.A keen sense of the Journals audience both present and future and a demonstrated ability to help reporters craft appealing features.A track record of capably handling breaking news on deadline.A strong desire to work across coverage areas to produce top-notch journalism.Qualifications4-7 years journalism experience preferably running relevant coverage.
