Civil Substation Construction Lead

The role ensures that civil works such as foundations, structures, roads, and drainage are completed<strong>safely, according to design, within schedule, and within budget</strong>.<br><br><ul><li>Review civil drawings, specifications, and construction scope for the substation.</li><li>Develop and monitor construction schedules for civil works.</li><li>Coordinate civil activities with electrical and mechanical installation teams.</li><li>Plan sequencing for:</li><ul><li>Earthworks</li><li>Foundations</li><li>Equipment structures</li><li>Buildings and infrastructure.</li></ul><li>Manage site clearing, excavation, grading, and leveling.</li><li>Supervise cut and fill operations to achieve required platform levels.</li><li>Ensure proper soil compaction and ground improvement.</li><li>Coordinate geotechnical requirements based on soil investigation reports.<br></li></ul><strong>Foundations for Electrical Equipment<br><br></strong>Supervise construction of foundations for major substation equipment such as:<br><br><ul><li>Power transformer foundations</li><li>Circuit breaker foundations</li><li>Gantry structures</li><li>Bus support structures</li><li>CT/VT and isolator foundations<br><br></li></ul>Ensure foundations meet<strong>load requirements, anchor bolt positioning, and tolerances</strong>.<br><br><strong>Substation Buildings&Structures<br><br></strong><strong>Oversee Construction Of<br><br></strong><ul><li>Control building</li><li>Relay room</li><li>GIS building (if applicable)</li><li>Security buildings and guard houses</li><li>Cable cellars and trenches<br><br></li></ul>Ensure buildings comply with<strong>structural and architectural specifications</strong>.<br><br><strong>Cable Trenches&Duct Banks<br><br></strong><ul><li>Supervise construction of cable trenches, cable ducts, and cable vaults.</li><li>Ensure proper routing and spacing for electrical cables.</li><li>Coordinate trench construction with electrical installation teams.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Drainage&Stormwater Management<br><br></strong><ul><li>Ensure installation of substation drainage systems.</li><li>Supervise construction of:</li><ul><li>Oil containment pits for transformers</li><li>Stormwater drains</li><li>Water collection systems.</li></ul><li>Ensure proper slope and water flow away from equipment areas.<br></li></ul><strong>Roads, Fencing&External Works<br><br></strong><strong>Manage Construction Of<br><br></strong><ul><li>Internal access roads and pavements</li><li>Equipment access routes for heavy transport</li><li>Boundary walls and security fencing</li><li>Gates and site entrances.</li><li>Grounding Grid Civil Works Support<br><br></li></ul>Coordinate civil works required for installation of the<strong>substation grounding grid</strong>, ensuring proper trenching and backfilling for earthing conductors.<br><br><strong>Material&Resource Management<br><br></strong><ul><li>Coordinate procurement and delivery of construction materials such as:</li><ul><li>Concrete</li><li>Reinforcement steel</li><li>Structural steel</li><li>Precast elements</li></ul><li>Manage manpower, equipment, and subcontractors.<br></li></ul><strong>Testing&Inspection<br><br></strong><ul><li>Supervise and verify:</li><ul><li>Concrete slump tests</li><li>Cube strength tests</li><li>Soil compaction tests</li><li>Reinforcement inspections before concreting.<br></li></ul></ul><strong>Progress Monitoring&Reporting<br><br></strong><ul><li>Track daily progress of civil works.</li><li>Prepare weekly and monthly reports.</li><li>Identify delays and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and clients.</li></ul>#J-18808-Ljbffr
