Civil Engineer – Fiber Optic Cable Laying & DuctingCivil Engineer – Fiber Optic Cable Laying & Ducting role at BSL. Responsible for review designs, planning, coordinating, and supervising civil works related to the installation of fiber optic cables, including trenching, ducting, and infrastructure preparation. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and engineering standards while minimizing disruption and optimizing project timelines.ResponsibilitiesSupervise Site Survey & PlanningConduct site assessments to determine optimal cable routes based on client instructions.Identify existing utilities, potential obstacles and blockages.Coordinate with design teams to finalize trenching and duct layouts.Trenching & DuctingSupervise trench excavation, duct placement, and backfilling.Ensure trench depth, width, and alignment meet project specifications.Implement protective measures for ducts (e.g., bedding, padding, compacting).Permits & ComplianceLiaise with sub-contractor to coordinate with local authorities for wayleaves and excavation permits.Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.Installation SupportCoordinate with fiber optic engineers during cable pulling and installation.Ensure ducts are clean, tested, and ready for cable deployment.Support air-assisted or mechanical cable installation methods.Documentation & ReportingMaintain site records, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.Report progress, issues, and resolutions to project managers.Coordination & CommunicationWork closely with subcontractors, utility providers, and internal teams.Address site challenges.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.Experience in telecom infrastructure or fiber optic projects preferred.Knowledge of trenching techniques, ducting standards, and safety protocols.Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, and project management tools.Skills & CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and coordination abilities.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesTelecommunications / Fiber optics#J-18808-Ljbffr
