<div><p>The Optics Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging engineering domain knowledge and expertise to assist customers in solving complex engineering problems using Ansys Optics products – primarily Ansys Speos and Ansys Zemax OpticStudio software. This role focuses primarily on pre- sales activities but also involves providing technical support. The engineer will support customers to significantly impact software revenue, offering technical solutions, conducting demonstrations, and delivering training sessions.</p><h3>Duties and Responsibilities</h3><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.</p><ul><li>Apply advanced engineering expertise and knowledge of optics (with a strong focus on Ansys Speos and Ansys Zemax OpticStudio) to provide the highest level of technical support to customers, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.</li><li>Work closely with potential and current customers to scope technical solutions that meet and optimize their operational needs</li><li>Collaborate with account managers to identify, advance, and technically drive new opportunity and sustained account support</li><li>Provide, track, and document first level technical support for existing customer accounts and elevate support when appropriate</li><li>Develop, organize, and deliver introductory technical training courses on the use of ANSYS Optics products</li><li>Maintain a general understanding of the breadth of technology provided by all ANSYS product offerings and technical solutions in optical applications</li><li>Sustain technical proficiency through ANSYS certifications and continual pursuit of personal, technical, and professional growth</li><li>Participate in and support internal marketing initiatives that drive customer engagement, education, and grow technical capacity</li></ul><h3>Education/Experience/Skills: (Required)</h3><ul><li>Requires a Minimum Master of Science Degree in Physical/Optical Engineering or related field</li><li>Requires a Minimum of 2 years’ experience using Ansys Zemax Optics Studio or Speos</li><li>Requires Strong Knowledge of Optical Design for Automotive Camera sensor-related applications or Optical Imaging in the Aerospace and Defense market.</li><li>Experience with optical system optimization to achieve desired performance metrics</li><li>Experience with designing and analyzing laser systems, including beam shaping and focusing</li><li>Knowledge of optical aberrations and methods to minimize them</li><li>Requires the ability to work effectively in both independent and diverse team environments</li><li>Requires excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop practical engineering solutions to difficult problems</li><li>Requires exceptional customer service aptitude, as well as communication and presentation skills</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required</li></ul><h3>Education/Experience/Skills: (Preferred)</h3><ul><li>In-depth use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, PLM</li><li>software packages</li><li>Understanding of ray tracing principles and their application in optical simulations</li><li>Understanding of light source modeling and light distribution control</li><li>Knowledge of Ansys Lumerical (photonics) products is a plus</li><li>Familiarity with beam propagation and diffraction analysis</li><li>Familiarity with common programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.) is a plus</li><li>Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects and to communicate effectively</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
