Job Description
ResponsibilitiesEngineered and modified analyzer, fire & gas systems, portable analyzers and laboratory equipment following established schedules and procedures.Organized and supervised engineering activities and subordinates to ensure efficient, policy‑consistent execution.Provided on‑the‑job training, constructive feedback and development support to subordinates.Monitored budgets and financial performance of engineering activities, identifying unsatisfactory performance and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.Ensured effective execution of modification activities in line with engineering plans, approved budgets and HSE/quality standards.Identified material/equipment requirements for analyzer and fire & gas systems, coordinating with stakeholders for timely availability.Acted as technical expert providing support and enhancement services for the approved project portfolio.Prepared project approval files, cost estimates, and technical study reports for analyzer and fire & gas systems.Managed feasibility and conceptual studies, detailed designs, and provided expert technical advice during design work.Provided initial review and approval of completed designs and study reports prior to release to senior management.Liaised with engineering staff to answer queries and provide additional support as required.Evaluated requests for client‑facility modification/enhancement involving analyzer and fire & gas problems and provided solutions or acceptance/rejection of proposed changes.Managed in‑house team for system designs, analysis, project specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.Provided initial validation and approval for technical documents and managed fiscal aspects of the assigned portfolio of engineering contracts.Monitored process analyzer performance data and assessed performance using statistical tools.Participated in commissioning and troubleshooting of process gas chromatographs and continuous gas analyzers (CGA).Installed, commissioned, and troubleshot process gas, liquid and CEMS analyzers & gas detectors (flammable & toxic).Conducted factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) of analyzers and fire & gas systems.Provided support and technical expertise for analyzer and fire & gas system operations across plant operations.Prepared and managed life‑cycle management plan for analyzer and fire & gas systems, ensuring maintainability and optimization of plant operation.Monitored quality and performance of analyzer and fire & gas systems against agreed KPIs and drove continuous improvement.Liaised with vendors to obtain suggestions for plant improvements and system performance related to analyzer and fire & gas systems.Participated in investigative studies aimed at improving current systems or solving related problems.Reviewed modifications, upgrades, enhancements and presented recommendations to the Operations department.Prepared feasibility studies for new installations and replacements of existing analyzer and fire & gas equipment, including technical evaluation, specifications and materials.Led and managed the work of assigned supervisors onsite, ensuring safe, efficient and economic execution of maintenance activities.Determined overall project engineering resourcing, identified risks and prepared contingency plans for a portfolio of instrument & control engineering projects.Led cost estimation of materials, equipment and labor for project feasibility.Selected vendors and coordinated with them to achieve successful completion of projects as per defined quality standards and guidelines.Collected, validated and analyzed engineering progress against plan, highlighting key variances requiring cross‑functional resolution.Managed contractor resources for successful implementation of improvement projects from instrument & control engineering aspects.Coached analyst and fire & gas teams on best practice application of project execution processes and ensured contractor adherence to company quality and HSE standards.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Instrument Engineering.Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar environment, involving design/engineering, project management and contract management of analyzer and fire & gas systems, with at least 5 years of growing team management responsibilities within the petrochemical industry.In‑depth knowledge of analyzer and fire & gas systems and automation engineering.Good knowledge of analyzer brands (Emerson, Ametek, ABB, Siemens, Servomex, Applied Analytics, HACH, etc.) and international standards such as NFPA & ISA.Mentoring, coaching and people management skills.Knowledge of operations in petrochemical plants and of client operations and products.Knowledge of CMMS, SAP and computer literate.Knowledge of tenders and contracts
