Visual Arts Manager Exhibitions & Cultural Programming

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Visual Arts Manager to oversee the organization’s art collection, exhibition programs, and national visual arts initiatives. The role is responsible for managing large-scale and curated exhibitions, commissioning new works, coordinating logistics, and leading a team that supports the advancement of the UAE’s visual arts landscape. The successful candidate will also manage research, advocacy, and partnerships that strengthen the organization’s impact within the regional and international art community.Key ResponsibilitiesExhibitions & ProgrammingLead and manage the Visual Arts team in planning and executing all visual art exhibitions, commissions, and events, from research and planning to final delivery.Collaborate with curators, artists, and external partners to develop and deliver compelling exhibitions locally and internationally.Coordinate logistics, installation, and operational support for exhibitions, including supplier management, budgeting, and reporting.Contribute to the programming and production of visual arts showcases at major events and festivals.Nationals’ Gallery InitiativeDevelop and manage the Nationals’ Gallery initiative to support Emirati artists’ visibility and engagement.Maintain an active registry of UAE-based artists and oversee online and offline resources for the artist community.Organize seminars, talks, and educational visits between artists and academic institutions.Produce advocacy materials, bulletins, and communications to promote local artists and programs.Art Collection ManagementOversee the maintenance, documentation, and growth of the organization’s art collection, ensuring proper inventory, storage, and conservation.Coordinate internal and external loans, acquisitions, and exhibitions of the collection.Manage the development of loan policies, condition reports, and exhibition records.Research & AdvocacyConduct national and international research related to the visual arts sector to inform strategy and program development.Produce reports, case studies, and briefing documents to support the organization’s leadership and advocacy initiatives.Support grants, awards, and cross-departmental projects requiring expertise in the visual arts.Administrative & ManagerialSupervise Visual Arts department staff, interns, and volunteers.Manage department budgets, contracts, and documentation.Coordinate internal and external communications, including marketing inputs and VIP engagement.Maintain detailed financial records, project schedules, and administrative correspondence.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Art History, Museology, Design, or Cultural Studies (Master’s preferred).Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in visual arts programming, curation, or arts management within a cultural institution or foundation.Proven background in managing exhibitions, artists, and art collections.Experience working with Emirati or regional art sectors is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of visual arts trends, exhibition management, and cultural programming.Excellent project management and budgeting skills.Research, analytical, and documentation proficiency.Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.Work Location: Abu DhabiTo view other vacancies we have, please check our website ( www.blackpearlconsult.com ) and follow us on our social media accounts - LinkedIn / InstagramFollow the Black Pearl channel on WhatsApp.Disclaimer : Black Pearl will never ask for money or any form of charge our candidates just to process or consider their application for any of our available vacancies.
