You’ll oversee comprehensive medical treatment, preventive care, and welfare programs for mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates, alongside managing a critical marine rescue and rehabilitation initiative. With a focus on research, leadership, and collaboration, you’ll mentor teams, consult on health protocols, and ensure compliance with the highest standards—all while contributing to groundbreaking studies and public education. The ideal candidate brings a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, at least five years of specialized zoo or aquarium experience, and proficiency in advanced diagnostics like CT/MRI, paired with strong leadership and communication skills to drive impactful change. Expect a dynamic role that merges clinical excellence with conservation leadership, offering the chance to make a tangible difference in animal welfare and scientific progress within a globally recognized facility.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Responsible for the maintenance and management of all aspects of collection animal health for SeaWorld Abu Dhabi including diagnosis, treatment of disease, preventative medicine programs, the animal welfare program, nutrition</li><li>Oversees medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceans</li><li>Shares responsibility for the management of Animal Rescue Program with the Zoological Directors</li><li>Consults and educates the Zoological colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally the public in areas of health, welfare, and husbandry</li><li>Conducts animal health research projects and prepares the results for presentations and peer‑reviewed publications</li><li>Ensures any noncompliance and safety related incidents are promptly investigated and corrective action taken as needed</li><li>Assists in the field for rescues, health assessments and possible field research with various species</li><li>To assist in managing labor and expense budgets for the Animal Care Center</li><li>Developing a high performing and motivated Animal Health team</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree</li><li>Ability to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the UAE</li><li>5 years of proven experience in a zoo, aquarium, or oceanarium organization.
