Whether you're seeking excitement, relaxation, or cultural enrichment, we offer something for everyone.About the RoleThe Veterinarian is responsible for providing comprehensive veterinary care to the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi (SWAD) animal population (mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates) as well as providing support for the affiliated regional marine life rescue and rehabilitation program.This role is integral to the maintenance of SeaWorld’s high animal welfare standards and to the advancement of the field and science of marine animal health. This role assists and participates in the management of the animal welfare program and plays an active role in research opportunities at SWAD. Assistance with managing labor and expense budgets for the Animal Care Center is also required. Responsible for developing a high performing and motivated Animal Health team.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the maintenance and management of all aspects of collection animal health for SeaWorld Abu Dhabi including diagnosis, treatment of disease, preventative medicine programs, the animal welfare program, nutritionAs part of various programs, oversees medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceansShares responsibility for the management of Animal Rescue Program with the Zoological DirectorsConsults and educates the Zoological colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally the public in areas of health, welfare, and husbandryConducts animal health research projects and prepares the results for presentations and peer-reviewed publicationsEnsures any noncompliance and safety related incidents are promptly investigated and corrective action taken as neededAssists in the field for rescues, health assessments and possible field research with various speciesPerforms other duties as assigned by the leadership teamQualifications & ExperienceDoctorate of Veterinary Medicine degreeAbility to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the UAE5 years of proven experience in a zoo, aquarium, or oceanarium organization.
