Vacancy Notice: Job title: Press and Information Officer LOCAL AGENT GROUP I Ref: 392656 -Political and Press Information Section Date: 15/03/2026 We are The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. The EU Delegation to the State of Qatar, Doha works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the Qatari government in areas that are part of the EU's remit. We offer The post of Press and Information Officer, Group I in the Delegation's Political and Press Information Section, under a fixed term employment contract of 2 years, with a possibility of renewal under reserve of budgetary availabilities and operational considerations. The team consists of 8 people and there are occasional atypical working hours. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Political and Press Information Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in political and press information. Responsibilities Planning, organising and implementing the Delegation's press and information activities, including translating articles and op ed from/to Arabic. Assisting in organising high level meetings and EU State visits as well as public affairs and cultural events. Contributing to the overall work of the Political, Press and Information Section, including monitoring and reporting on political developments. Developing contacts/networks with media/press in Qatar. Initiating, preparing, evaluating and monitoring press and media actions; drafting, editing and distributing publication materials; monitoring local press, both hard copy and online. Managing the Delegation's website and social media accounts. Managing the information budget of the Delegation. Advising and supporting the Delegation on all communication matters, including interviews by the Head of Delegation. Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered) University degree (Bachelor or equivalent level; ISCED level 6) in international relations, media, communication, journalism or any other relevant area. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the press and information, media or journalistic sectors. The professional experience must be acquired after the date on which the qualification allowing access to the post was obtained. Working knowledge (C1) of English and Arabic. Right to residence and work in Qatar. Have a clean criminal record. Medical fitness to carry out the tasks assigned. Assets/selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant) Excellent communication skills, including the use of social media. Proven records of protocol knowledge. Fully independent in report writing and excellent drafting skills. Excellent ability to think analytically and innovatively. Capabilities to clearly, efficiently and effectively conceptualise ideas and approaches. Good capability to convert ideas into practical results that optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of the Delegation's public activities. Able to lead/introduce public events. Capacity to focus on priorities, to organise work and meet deadlines. Excellent organisational skills. Capable of producing high quality results within often tight deadlines. Ability to negotiate at all levels in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Sense of initiative. Capacity to deal with organisational challenges under tight deadlines. Excellent knowledge of the Qatari political and media environment. Excellent knowledge and practical experience of formulating (written and oral) and implementing a communication strategy. Excellent ability to carry out Press and Information projects such as publication editing and organisation of events. Knowledge of the European Union policies and EU GCC relations/strategy. Able to work as a team member with good inter personal skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
