Job Description
The Technologist - Cardiovascular (EP) participates in all activities contributing to the development of the Invasive and Non Invasive Cardiology services including but not limited to: Cardiovascular Information system build, formulation of policies and procedures relating to Cardiology services, assisting Sidra education specialists with development of orientation and continuing education requirements for Cardiovascular Technologists. The Technologist provides specialist technical expertise for the Electrophysiology and Pacing program and assists with the Invasive and Non Invasive programs as deemed necessary.KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIESPlans, delivers and evaluates clinical education, grounding strategies in adult education theory and evidence based practiceProvides specialist cardiac rhythm management expertise in the field of cardiac pacing, ICDs and implantable loop recordersProvides technical expertise in a range of cardiac procedures, including ambulatory ECG analysis, cardiac catheterisation, head-up tilt testing and exercise ECG testing.Provides technical expertise during pacemaker and ICD implantationManages pacemaker and ICD clinicsSupervises exercise ECG tests and tilt testsEnsures patient safety during direct patient carePerforms hemodynamic monitoring/recording for cardiac catheterizationParticipates in the emergency on-call rotationAssesses learning needs and professional capabilities related to the specialty area and individual staff assigned in that areaDesigns, delivers, assesses, evaluates and continuously improves learning (including e-learning) in line with identified needs and planned outcomes.Under the supervision of the Manager, administers and manages clinical education and orientation in line with policy and reporting requirementsPromotes and works collaboratively in a team environment to achieve planned outcomesSupports the assessment of clinical competence and audits compliance with Sidra standards of careDocuments and reports all clinical education activities against policy and compliance standards including progress and potential problemsParticipates in the build of the Cardiovascular Information system, becoming a super user and trainer for operational staff.Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policiesAdheres to and promotes Sidra’s ValuesIn view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSEducationBSc (Hons.) clinical physiology or equivalent (RCVT)Experience5+ years as a senior Cardiac Technologist or RCVT2+ Years specialized experience in cardiac catheterization laboratoryCertification and LicensureRegistered as Clinical Physiologist/Cardiovascular orequivalent ( RCIS)Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life SupportJob Specific Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of pacemaker and ICD programmingKnowledge Cardiology specific policies, protocols and guidelinesAbility to set up and use hemodynamic recording and monitoring equipment in cardiaccatheterization laboratoryBroad knowledge of technical cardiologyAbility to interpret data and write reports of findingsAbility to interpret ECG data and write a report of findings on ambulatory ECG recordingSkilled in communicating with patients to explain test procedures and give instructions on how to operate equipmentAmbulatory blood pressure recordingAbout UsSidra Medicine a healthy population is essential to a strong, prosperous society, and throughout 2020, Sidra continued to provide uninterrupted comprehensive specialist healthcare services for children and young people; and exceptional maternity, gynecology, and reproductive medical services for women, previously unavailable in Qatar and the region.” – H.H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar FoundationSidra Medicine represents the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser who serves as its Chairperson.
