Job DescriptionAldar Academies are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of Chemistry for Al Ain British Academy, commencing August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family. Al Ain British Academy opened in September 2011 providing high quality education in the heritage ‘Garden City’ of the United Arab Emirates. The children are taught the English National Curriculum – tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, two swimming pools, well‑stocked library, a large multi‑purpose sports hall, an auditorium and outdoor play areas. It is an exciting, challenging and enjoyable school to work in where achievement for pupils is at the heart of all we do. The school has achieved outstanding levels of progress and attainment, supported by rigorous tracking of data and assessment in all areas of the curriculum. Candidates must have a secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and GCSE. Experience of teaching students for whom English is not their first language would be an advantage. Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all. They will be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team. The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.ResponsibilitiesCreating a climate for learning that is conducive for outstanding practiceIdentifying clear teaching and learning objectivesSetting clear targets, building on prior attainmentIdentifying SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiationProviding clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge and engagementMaking effective use of assessment for learningMaking effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and therefore deliver differentiated lessonsMaking effective use of ICT to enhance learning and progressMaintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homeworkAssess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learningMark students' work regularly, and set targets for progress, in accordance with the school’s Marking PolicyAssess and record students' progress systematically and keep records; using performance data to inform planning, student learning and progressUndertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies, department and school proceduresPrepare and present informative reports to parentsAttend and support parent/student eventsTake part in subject development by producing, reviewing and updating curriculum plans and schemes of workMeeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if requiredAny other duties as assigned by the SLTQualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor of degree in related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching QualificationMinimum ExperienceMinimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chemistry Teacher in the English CurriculumJob Specific Knowledge & SkillsCommitment to school’s vision and valuesPassion for education, teaching, and a belief in the potential of every studentCommitment to continuing professional developmentExcellent inter‑personal/communication skills and organisation skillsKnowledge of current developments in educationKnowledge of child protection and safeguardingTeaching across ability range with proven successExperience of working in more than one International SchoolAbility to work under pressure, problem‑solve, deal with challenging situations and be resilientWhat We OfferAldar Academies are a family of world‑class, child‑centred, and innovative schools based in the UAE.
