The opportunityEY is seeking a Consultant to join our Tax Policy team, which is part of our International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS) practice, where you will work on complex engagements and play a key role in driving the growth of our business. This role will focus on supporting governments and policy makers in strengthening their tax policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax law and policy analysis, with the ability to translate desired policy outcomes into practical recommendations for clients.Your key responsibilitiesProvide strategic guidance on the development of tax policy, by reference to best practice and regulatory trends internationally.Support tax and revenue administrations in effectively implementing tax and revenue policies.Support governments with their strategy and engagement on international tax initiatives.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, economics, public policy) to deliver integrated solutions.Prepare and present insights in a clear and compelling manner.Skills and attributes for successYou must be able to build strong client relationships & excellently communicate in a range of situations in both written and oral English. You should also be able to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards. You are expected to be a client focused and commercially aware team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. You must also possess project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget. You should also be able to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.To qualify for the roleA degree in economics, finance, tax or accountingAt least three years of relevant experience as Tax professionalExperience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. However, we will consider candidates from governmental entities, or international firms.Strong knowledge of domestic and international tax rules and tax authority practices.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and interact with senior stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including drafting technical memos and policy papers.Ideally, you’ll also haveExperience engaging with tax authorities, regulators, and industry bodies.Familiarity with OECD BEPS, Pillar One and Two, and global minimum tax frameworks.Client-facing experience in advising multinational corporations.What we look forHighly motivated individuals with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry.
