Job Description As a Talent Advisor at Avalara, you will be a strategic partner to executives and senior leadership, integrating high-touch recruitment with a forward-looking talent strategy to advance the companys vision of becoming an AI-first, globally connected organization. Reporting into the Director of Talent Acquisition, India and working closely with business leaders, your role will involve developing and executing insight-driven hiring strategies, leveraging global market intelligence, and ensuring Avalara continues to attract, assess, and hire exceptional leaders and specialized talent aligned with the companys growth objectives. While AI and automation enhance transactional recruiting processes, your emphasis will be on human connectionbuilding trusted relationships, providing strategic counsel, and strengthening leadership alignment and strategic recruitment efforts across all regions.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Serving as a strategic partner to executives and senior leaders, aligning talent acquisition strategies with Avalara's business objectives and long-term workforce goals.
- Partnering with designated Technology and Product line of business (LOBs) to understand business goals, workforce planning, and evolving talent needs.
- Collaborating closely with HR Business Partners and TA leadership to ensure alignment between workforce strategies, organizational design, and overall company direction.
- Delivering talent intelligence, competitor benchmarks, and global market insights to guide executive decision-making and support Avalara's transformation into an AI-first organization.
- Operating with an approximately 80/20 focus, 80% strategic advisement and partnership, and 20% high-impact recruitment for critical leadership and niche roles.
In addition, you will:
- Deliver a white-glove experience for senior-level candidates, ensuring every touchpoint reflects Avalara's culture and values.
- Conduct in-depth candidate assessments, evaluating technical expertise and leadership potential.
- Provide thoughtful follow-up and communication, ensuring candidates feel valued and respected throughout the process.
You will also be responsible for:
- Leveraging talent intelligence and market data to inform and influence strategic hiring decisions across business units.
- Conducting and delivering talent mapping overviews, including competitor benchmarks, market availability, and emerging trends.
- Partnering closely with Researchers to pipeline niche talent.
- Guiding hiring teams through structured, bias-aware decision-making.
- Anticipating future hiring needs through proactive pipeline building and engagement with talent communities.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Leading complex offer negotiations for senior-level candidates, balancing market data, internal equity, and candidate expectations.
- Partnering with Compensation and HR Business Partners on competitive compensation packages.
- Ensuring offers reinforce Avalara's values, long-term vision, and competitive positioning.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience and strategic advisory work.
- Demonstrated experience with AI-driven talent acquisition tools, automation platforms, and analytics for sourcing, assessment, and workforce planning.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives through relationship-building and data-driven insights.
- Skills in candidate engagement, assessment, negotiation, and offer management.
- Strong expertise in talent mapping, workforce planning, and delivery model design.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and storytelling skills.
- Experience in SaaS, technology, or global organizations is strongly preferred.
