BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services WLL | Full timeThe SurvivalEquipment and Avionics Controller is responsible for ensuring that all offaircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards. Reporting to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for the organisation, administration, control and efficiency of the Part 145 Bay Operations.The post holder will be an experienced and skilled technician undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on an aircraft or aircraft component, demonstrating the ability to derive diagnostic techniques. Responsible for maintaining airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation on an aircraft or component. Responsible for tasking of work & supervision of personnel/people management. Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets at a tactical level. Demonstrates people management and leadership skills. Demonstrates awareness of broader external dependencies and identifies areas for continuous improvement.Core ActivityHigh level of survival equipment and avionics knowledge is requiredInitial set up of aircraft baysResponsible for ensuring that all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards. Reporting to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for the organisation, administration, control and efficiency of the Part 145 Bay OperationsEnsuring that all required regulatory and company standards of quality are achieved for all tasks carried out in the maintenance organisationRequires the ability to think and plan tactically to respond to the constantly changing environment in terms of Customer and product changes/customisation, therefore it also demands the capability to organise resource balancing/training to meet changing standardsProvide Information, Statistics and Data as required for input to the Operational Performance ReviewSupervising the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escalating as required. Report on any impact to the wider programmeDemonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriatelyEnsuring that staff are sufficiently competent and approved for themaintenance tasks allocated to them. Maintain personal & teams task authorisation for working on an aircraft or components in accordance with AMC requirementsResponsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others. Progress reporting against delivery targets to managementProvide guidance and leadership to the team. Develops team members using formal assessment processes, e.g. PDR’s, supports and sponsors training requests including ‘on the job training’. Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated informationMaintaining personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of On the Job training (OJT) activities, sign QEAF personnel’s Log Books as appropriate within your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor, undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, and check Pt 145 license application packs prior to submission.Oversight of HMSS repairs and maintenanceProvide reporting and oversight to QEAF consolidation activities with Pt145 Off Aircraft workshopsKey AccountabilitiesPerformance indicators – Ensure the effective management of Regulatory activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritise activities within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Represent the Maintenance Manager at management reviews where necessary. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generating effective resolution, or sponsoring escalation to management, as appropriate.Procedure / standards – Comply with the Regulatory Framework, its associated procedures and standards, and any other company procedures and standards. Identify and propose changes as required.Safety Management System – Understand and apply Human Factors and Error Management philosophies to all Maintenance activities. Understand the risks associated with Maintenance activities and the means by which they are mitigated and managed.Management System Assurance – Ensure Maintenance activities are compliant with the QAF Regulatory and Assurance framework, including supporting Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits. Support the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information to support the relevant reviews. Support the implementation of identified improvements to overcome any non‑compliance and monitor effectiveness.Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory Framework.
