As the Surface Drainage Lead, you will spearhead the design, planning, and execution of stormwater management systems across major infrastructure and development projects in Qatar. You’ll provide expert guidance in hydraulic and hydrological modeling, ensuring compliance with local regulations and technical excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesLead comprehensive planning, design, and delivery of stormwater and drainage systems for infrastructure and urban developmentManage hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, including flood risk analyses and drainage impact assessmentsProvide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, overseeing deliverables and ensuring adherence to design standards and codesReview and validate design calculations, drawings, and reports for accuracy and complianceImplement water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) principles, integrating sustainable solutionsLiaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to secure technical approvals and manage queriesOversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful deliverablesMentor and develop early- and mid-career engineers, enhancing team capabilitiesCoordinate with CAD/BIM teams to ensure integrated system design approachesEssential Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology, or Water Engineering; Master’s level preferredMinimum 15+ years of hands‑on experience in stormwater drainage and water infrastructure designProven expertise in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools specifically in Info Works ICM for both 1 D and 2 D modelling. Other tools are beneficial (e.g., SWMM, Storm CAD, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS)Proficient with GIS and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., Arc Map, QGIS, Auto CAD, Civil 3 D, Microstation)Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation; Qatar (MME) registration preferred or to be completed within six months from joiningStrong leadership, organizational, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skillsPrior experience in Qatar/the Middle East is highly advantageousTake on some of the world's toughest challenges— with everyone at GHD backing you every step of the way.At GHD, we celebrate the power of a multicultural workforce and champion individual achievement.
