Staff Nurse-Clinical Trials Unit SectionAbu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesJob DescriptionThe Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support and promote the mission, vision and values of SSMC; provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body. The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.ResponsibilitiesAssessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues, assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs, interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis or issues as defined by the patient’s condition, uses evidence-based assessment techniques and instruments, validates the diagnosis, prioritizes data based on the patient’s immediate condition or anticipated needs, identifies potential risks or barriers, and documents the data and information collected in compliance with established guidelines.Planning and Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan that addresses health promotion, health restoration and health maintenance, involves patient, family and healthcare team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care, applies evidence-based nursing practices in developing the plan, modifies the plan according to ongoing assessment and reevaluation of the patient’s response, status and outcome indicators, and documents measurable goals using standardized language.Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and healthcare team members, performs treatments and procedures according to established guidelines, administers medications according to organization policies, ensures all components of the plan are documented in the patient’s health record, communicates relevant information across all levels of care, and demonstrates a working knowledge of resource consumption within a cost-effective framework.Health Teaching and Health Promotion: Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs, promotes health skills and self-management, seeks feedback to evaluate effectiveness including teach‑back, and documents all health education components in the patient health record.Evaluation: Evaluates progress toward outcomes, the patient/family's understanding and response to the plan of care, revises nursing diagnoses and outcomes through systematic assessment, involves the patient, family and team in evaluation, provides comprehensive clinical handover, attends patient care rounds, updates the attending provider on changes, communicates ongoing changes, and documents reassessment and rationale for revisions.Evidence‑Based Practice and Research: Integrates evidence and research findings into practice, utilizes current evidence-based knowledge to guide and evaluate practice, participates in evidence‑based and research activities appropriate to the nurse’s education and position, shares findings with the team, and participates in performance improvement projects.Leadership: Demonstrates leadership behaviors, serves as a professional role model, coordinates and supervises delegated activities, demonstrates critical thinking in priority setting, pursues informal and formal leadership opportunities, participates in shared decision‑making, supervises practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses, and ensures safe and effective patient care.Accountabilities: Applies principles of professional ethics, maintains a therapeutic nurse‑patient relationship, serves as a patient advocate, questions unsafe practices, discloses illegal or incompetent practices, evaluates practice standards, considers effectiveness, cost, environmental health, and organization impact, utilizes current resources and electronic tools, evaluates patient safety and cost factors, promotes a safe practice environment, communicates environmental health risks, mentors the team, and responds to emergencies per organization policies.QualificationsExperience (Required): NLT 2 years clinical experience post qualification in an appropriate setting (Experience requirement waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges/universities after completion of internship).Experience (Desired): N.A.Educational Qualification (Required): Bachelor degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) AND Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia AND valid/current national license. AND BLS.Educational Qualification (Desired): ACLS, PALS
