Sr. Field/Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d)

Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Field Engineer with deep expertise in x86 servers and data storage systems, particularly Gigabyte, Compal, and Supermicro hardware. This is a high-impact role for a senior-level professional, close to an infrastructure architect, who will not only execute on-site installations but also advise clients on infrastructure optimisation and best practices.In the early stages, the role will require on-site presence at client locations for installations and configurations. As the company grows, the position will transition to a third-line technical support role based at our office, focusing on advanced troubleshooting, solution design, and infrastructure optimisation.Key ResponsibilitiesOn-Site Installations & ConfigurationsLead the deployment of x86 servers and data storage systemsConfigure hardware, firmware, and operating systems to meet customer requirementsCollaborate with junior engineers for physical installations (rack mounting, cabling, etc.)Pre-launch Setup and OptimizationConduct pre-deployment configuration and test servers and storage systems to ensure compatibility and performanceOptimise hardware and software settings based on client requirements and industry best practicesPerform initial benchmarking and load testing before final deploymentTechnical Consulting & Solution DesignAnalyse client requirements and propose infrastructure solutions that optimise performance and cost-efficiencyProvide technical recommendations and best practices for server and storage deploymentsConduct health checks and performance tuning on deployed systemsClient Interaction & SupportAct as a senior technical expert, building trusted relationships with customersProvide on-site troubleshooting for complex technical issuesPrepare and present optimisation reports and upgrade proposalsInternal Development & Future Role TransitionDocument solutions, configurations, and processes for future referenceProvide training and mentorship to junior engineersTransition into a third-line support role in the office as the company scales, focusing on high-level technical support and solution architectureQualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in server and data storage infrastructure, focusing on enterprise-level deployments.Vendor Experience: Strong hands-on experience with Compal, Gigabyte and Supermicro x86 servers.Certifications: Microsoft, VMware, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), etc.Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of server hardware components, BIOS/UEFI settings, and RAID configurationsExperience working for a server or network equipment vendor in a technical presales or service engineering roleProficiency in operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and virtualisation platforms (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V)Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, iSCSI, NFS, etc.) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, NVMe, etc.)Familiarity with server monitoring tools and enterprise backup solutionsDeep understanding of fault-tolerance mechanisms and best practices for ensuring the high availability of enterprise information systemsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong customer-facing and communication skillsAbility to work independently and under pressure.Career Growth: This role offers a clear path to becoming a senior architect and third-line technical leader.High Impact: Play a pivotal role in our customer service and technical delivery during a critical growth phase.#J-18808-Ljbffr
