Together, we are building a better world so we can all enjoy living in it.Career AreaManufacturingRole DefinitionWork in the MaK Middle East FZCO workshop in Dubai, UAE performing service, maintenance, overhauling, and repair of MaK medium‑speed marine engine components independently. Requires broad mechanical skills, basic diagnostic capabilities, and an understanding of workshop machinery, machining, tooling, equipment, and medium‑speed marine engines. Also required to go onboard vessels for engine component servicing as needed.What You Will DoPerform servicing, overhauling, and repair of MaK medium‑speed engine components including machining of cylinder head valve stems, valve seat inserts, oversize valve seat pockets, valve guides, cylinder liner honing, diamond lapping, fuel injection pumps, injectors, pumps, pistons, connecting rods, turbochargers, etc.Perform precision in‑place machining on engines in the field such as liner top and bottom landing surface machining in the cylinder block.Safely operate workshop equipment such as lathe, milling, cutting, grinding, honing, lapping, heating, welding, lifting, and hoisting.Perform precision measuring and calibration of engine parts and components using micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, Vernier gauges, feeler gauges, etc.Prepare workshop calibration and service reports.Machine, lap, grind parts and components and custom‑fabricate steel items to high standards and tolerances.Inspect, test, and analyze engine components and parts to determine condition; use crack testing equipment.Replace parts and assemblies without supervision.Reassemble engine components and carry out required quality assurance testing.Follow defined workshop workflow processes.Work from service manuals, maintenance manuals, technical information, and equipment schematics.Perform failure analysis, troubleshooting, and apply own experience and judgment.Operate all workshop equipment safely for intended purpose.Communicate verbally effectively with technical staff, other employees, and vendors.Use basic soldering and brazing skills as needed.What You Will Have5S Housekeeping: Knowledge of 5S Housekeeping concepts; ability to design, implement and sustain 5S housekeeping strategies to ensure standardization of workplace operations.Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems.Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service.Mechanical/Machinery: Knowledge of machines and tools; ability to use knowledge of machinery or mechanical objects including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision‑making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize time and resources systematically.Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Knowledge of TPM principles, methods, and processes; ability to maximize machinery effectiveness through active involvement of all supporting departments.Top Candidates Also Have: (Qualification)8 years of experience in similar marine or large medium‑speed engine component workshop servicing, repair, machining, or equivalent experience or schooling.Good mechanical comprehension and strong communication skills with technical staff, customers, and fellow employees.Basic computer skills.Ability to speak, read, and write in English.Additional InformationThis role requires working 5 days from the office.What We OfferFrom day one, you’re set up to thrive at Caterpillar: helpful training, relatable mentors, global experience, a competitive salary package, work‑life balance, and the growth opportunities you expect with a Fortune 100 company.
