They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Welding discipline. The Senior Welding Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline‑specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Welding Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Welding team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:Provide deliverables from Welding engineering and running of development projects/tasks, provide metallurgical consultative service to operating groups (Fabrication / Marine)Develop the Project Welding Execution Plan that defines the full scope of Weld Procedures required, schedule of qualification, quantity of electrodes and materials required for qualificationEnsure that proper priorities relevant to project schedules are established and review progressResponsible for seeking the review and approval of all Project Weld Procedures through direct and indirect communications with the Customer and Certifying AuthorityWork with the Welding Engineering group and Welding department to execute R&D developments projects/goals identifiedMaintain contacts with technical groups to maintain updates on developments in welding technologyCoordinate with test houses regarding testing of welding qualification couponsCo‑ordinate the technical selection of electrodes based on their physical, chemical, and corrosion properties as well as considering their weldability and economicsConduct regular review of Welding Consumables requirements v/s availability to ensure availability of the sameReview project schedules, material control reports, and welding consumable estimates to determine changes to the welding execution planGuide Welding Engineers on day‑to‑day matters and mentor trainee welding engineers to have a better understanding of Codes, Standards, and Project requirementsAssist in resolving metallurgical, welding, and quality‑related problems, by investigating the cause of failures and prescribing fit for purposeAssist in the support and development of automatic/mechanized welding systemsManage welding school facility for the training and development of the workforce to improve the welding methodology and good workmanship practicesReview of vendor documents related to Welding EngineeringBid stage: review and summarize customer specifications, identify bid qualifications and clarifications, project welder and procedure qualification requirements, and welding consumables requirementsIdentify any special needs that may be needed for executionStart getting involved/developing an understanding for ECA based acceptance criteria (for specific applications only)Liaise with: Operations Manager (Fabrication / Marine), Discipline Managers, PMT, Customers, Operations /Field Engineers, QC/NDT Engineers, Client representatives, Certifying Authorities, Other Technical Agencies (e.g., TWI, DNVGL)QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:MS in WeldingBS Degree (4-year degree) or IWE or EWE in Welding Engineering/Metallurgical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering5+ years directly related to Welding Engineering, Metallurgy/Materials in Fabrication/Construction Industry#J-18808-Ljbffr
