OverviewThe Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) was established in 2014 to support the mission of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by qualifying the country’s current and future diplomats and government leaders. As a leading center of excellence in the Middle East for foreign policy, executive training, and research, AGDA provides region-specific programs, thought leadership, and access to prominent diplomatic expertise. With a proven track record of preparing graduates to represent the UAE at the highest levels, the academy plays a pivotal role in strengthening the UAE’s global standing. Its comprehensive approach integrates international knowledge and expertise to address the dynamic challenges of global foreign policy.The Research fellow will be located at AGDA, two days per week and two days at AFH. Attendance and duties will be discussed by AGDA’s Director’s of Research and AFH’s Head of Research and Publications before the fellowship starts (September 1 st ).ResponsibilitiesResearch and Thought LeadershipDevelop and lead a research agenda focused on the interplay between interfaith studies and diplomacy, including areas such as religious statecraft, human fraternity, and cultural diplomacy.Produce and disseminate high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed articles, policy briefs, multimedia content (e.g., podcasts, infographics).Provide expert advisory support to policymakers, offering insights and recommendations based on research findings to inform policy and diplomatic efforts.Represent the institution at international forums, conferences, and academic events to share research findings and engage with global thought leaders.Collaboration and Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with diverse stakeholders, including scholars, religious leaders, and cultural organizations, to develop initiatives that promote tolerance and coexistence.Organize and participate in cultural and academic events such as conferences, roundtables and workshops, ensuring meaningful discussions and impactful outcomes.Act as a liaison between academic and policy communities, facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices to bridge gaps and drive progress in interfaith and diplomatic initiatives.Contribute to strategic partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, international organizations and government entities to advance research and dialogue in interfaith studies.Education and Capacity BuildingDesign course and/or training programmes related to interfaith dialogue, diplomacy.Teach at least one course annually in a graduate programme and/or executive education setting.Mentor and supervise students, guiding research projects and supporting their academic and professional development in interfaith studies.Contributes to the creation of educational tools and resources that enhance understanding of interfaith dialogue and diplomacy.Knowledge Dissemination and Public EngagementDevelop accessible and impactful communication strategies to share research findings with diverse audiences, including policymakers, academics, and the general public.Engage in public outreach through lectures, panel discussions, and media appearances, promoting awareness of interfaith dialogue and its significance in global affairs.Lead the production of engaging digital content, such as podcasts and webinars, to foster dialogue and reach a wider audience.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAnalytical and critical thinking skills to synthesize complex data.Written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable; knowledge of the Middle East would be an advantage.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple research projects.Pedagogical skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver interactive and impactful educational content.A collaborative and innovative mindset, with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.A deep understanding of the cultural and political dynamics surrounding interfaith dialogue and diplomacy.A passion for advancing mutual understanding, coexistence and human fraternity through research, education and outreach.Education, Qualification and Experience§A PhD in a relevant field such as Humanities or Social Sciences or a related field.§Demonstrated expertise in conducting policy-relevant research and translating findings into actionable recommendations.§A publication record showcasing impactful contributions to the field of interfaith dialogue or diplomacy.Proven experience in designing and delivering educational programmes and courses at graduate or executive level.Terms of the Fellowship§Duration: The fellowship is offered for an initial one-year term, with the possibility of annual renewal, starting on September 1 st .§Residency: The selected candidate must reside and work in the UAE§Compensation: A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience
