Job Description As a Senior Principal Engineer - Data Science at Marsh based out of the Mumbai office, you can expect to be an individual contributor in Data Science, developing and implementing cutting-edge techniques in artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling, and natural language processing for commercial insurance and risk management. You will consult with senior colleagues on complex financial and statistical analyses and pioneer new, market-leading tools. **Core Responsibilities:** - Develop modeling approaches for implementing innovative analytics-based tools to understand and address risk - Understand business problems to create an approach that involves determining structured and unstructured data needs, building Machine Learning models, and delivering results that provide insights for clients and colleagues - Demonstrate expertise in advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and research techniques while collaborating with the Data Science team and wider organization - Stay updated with ongoing research in the field and introduce new approaches to the team - Act as an internal expert resource and champion for data science within Marsh and MMC **We will count on you to:** - Possess hands-on expertise in Python and data-related packages like pandas, numpy, matplotlib, streamlit, etc. - Mine and analyze data to drive optimization and implement business strategies - Build machine learning algorithms based on business requirements - Deploy APIs on the platform by understanding technical requirements - Develop statistical custom data models and algorithms from scratch to enhance current value proposition and new product development - Utilize risk models related to Time Series Forecasting, Clustering, GLM/Regression, Boosting, Trees, etc. - Use advanced analytics to supplement consulting deliverables with data-backed outputs - Conduct research on clients' risk areas and prepare a consulting point of view **What you need to have:** - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields - 5+ years of experience in Data Science, AI research, or similar fields - Ability to develop client-oriented solutions - Detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Expertise in Python, SQL, and writing complex SQL queries - Understanding of Risk modeling and inferential statistics - Knowledge of insurance contracts and risk business is a plus **What makes you stand out:** - Understanding of insurance and risk management - Experience in building data visualizations in MS-Excel/PowerBI As a part of Marsh, you will benefit from professional development opportunities, engaging work, and supportive leadership.
