Senior Optics Engineer

<div><p>Location: Abu Dhabi (Relocation Provided)</p><p>Employment Type: Full-Time</p><h3>Position Overview</h3><p>The Senior Optical Engineer is responsible for the overall technical authority, design, and performance of optical systems, particularly for defense-related applications. This role involves translating functional requirements into innovative optical designs, performing trade‑off analyses, and developing conceptual designs for both visible light and IR cameras. The position leads the integration and testing of optical components and subsystems, supervises optical labs, and mentors junior engineers and technicians.</p><ul><li>Take the overall technical authority, responsibility and accountability for the optical designs.</li><li>Ability to derive a design from functional requirements.</li><li>Perform trade‑off analysis based on the functional requirement.</li><li>Develop optical conceptual design and support optical fabrication requirement.</li><li>Generate technical documentation such as design description, design performance analysis reports, technical notes, assembly procedures.</li><li>Lead Integration and testing of optical components subsystem.</li><li>Lead department engineers, technician and technologist.</li><li>Support the development of optical subsystems that encompass industrial/mechanical design.</li><li>Use ZEMAX to perform design and analysis for optical components.</li><li>Optical system analysis and modelling utilizing programming and software tools.</li><li>Develop models and simulations of key optical subsystems.</li><li>Design or selection of the adequate lenses from the functional requirement.</li><li>Design optical elements for both visible light and IR cameras.</li><li>Setup the optical laboratory for the development project concepts.</li><li>Design relevant optical lab tests, including test definition, equipment, and data analysis.</li><li>Periodic progress reporting to the board directors and stakeholders.</li><li>Writing and defense of new project proposal.</li><li>Mentorship and training of junior technical personnel.</li></ul><h3>Support Accountabilities</h3><ul><li>Optical labs supervision.</li><li>Purchase of optical equipment.</li><li>Supervision the setup of a clean room and optical benches.</li><li>Work closely with the opto-electronics team in the design of multiple types of cameras.</li><li>Involvement in the optical sensors selection.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>20+ years of industrial experience in optical design in close relation to the defense sector.</li><li>Expert in working with optical elements and lenses elements design.</li><li>Expert level in the use of ZEMAX tools.</li><li>Track record of design of IR cameras for defense sector.</li><li>Proven leadership and innovation skills.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge / Qualification</h3><ul><li>PhD or Master’s degree in Physics or Optics.</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
