Job Description
Job Description As a Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for leveraging your prior job experience, preferably from a Big 4 or relevant industry background, to broaden your accounting, finance, and analytical capabilities. Your key responsibilities will include supervising and mentoring Associate Fund Accountants and Fund Accountants, training new employees, administering, reporting, and reviewing financials in line with industry standards, and responding to auditor queries. You will also be expected to increase communication and interaction with clients and their investors, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for stakeholders, calculate and review performance returns, support and coordinate client cash distributions, and analyze and interpret accounting records, financial statements, and audit documents for accuracy and compliance. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through project involvement and initiative, and review documents to ensure compliance with client agreements.
Your profile should include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, along with 5+ years of finance or accounting experience. Experience with Closed-End Funds, Private Equity, PERE, and CMBS is preferred, and you should have a strong understanding of assigned fund investments and broader market trends. Familiarity with Capital Calls, Distributions, and Management Fees is essential, as well as exposure to Waterfall Calculations, Hurdle Rate, Catch-up, and Carry, and Loan Accounting, including various components such as journal entries, interest accruals, PIK, paydowns, prepayments, defaults, amortization of OID, premium, and discount. You should also possess the ability to create SOPs and identify process improvement opportunities, proficiency in cash reconciliation and expense reimbursement, strong communication and analytical skills, and CA or CMA eligibility would be a plus. Exposure to loan administration, agency services, trade settlement, and CLO manager services is also beneficial.
