Job Description
OverviewJob Purpose The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for promoting and selling WeFreight services within the assigned market, focusing on both SMEs and large-sized customers. The role is profit-driven, aimed at generating consistent revenue and gross profit to meet monthly and annual sales targets. The BDM also contributes to trade lane development, market representation, and coordination with other WeFreight branches for cross-border opportunities, while strengthening the company’s brand reputation.Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesSales and Business Development: Promote and sell WeFreight’s services to new SME and large-scale clients; secure new business to meet or exceed revenue and profit targets; generate leads, register opportunities, and track sales activity via ERP-based CRM; ensure accurate and timely documentation of all customer interactions and visits.Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through regular visits and communication; provide professional and prompt follow-up on client requests and inquiries; negotiate rates and contracts in line with company guidelines and profitability; identify and develop key trade lanes to enhance company competitiveness; collaborate with trade lane managers to boost volumes in specific corridors; support the creation and execution of trade lane strategies.Market Representation & Promotion: Actively promote WeFreight’s brand and services in the marketplace; represent the company at industry events, vendor meetings, and trade summits; raise awareness of core services such as consolidation and trade-specific solutions.Cross-Branch Collaboration: Coordinate with WeFreight branches on trade lane alignment and sales efforts; conduct joint visits and shared client presentations to enhance cross-border sales; share leads and support global business opportunities across the WeFreight network.Strategic Planning & Market Analysis: Analyze and map business opportunities, trends, and customer needs; participate in sales meetings, sharing market intelligence and insights; contribute to broader business growth strategies through data and feedback; support the operations and customer service teams in delivering on service-level agreements; coordinate with the finance team to follow up on outstanding receivables; relay customer feedback for service enhancement and process improvements.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Monthly and annual revenue and profit achievementNumber of new clients onboarded and new revenue generatedGrowth in key trade lanes and contribution to lane strategyCRM data accuracy and completenessClient satisfaction and retention levelsSuccess rate of joint sales initiatives with WeFreight branchesKey InteractionsExternal: Customers, Vendors, Industry Stakeholders, Trade SummitsInternal: Sales & Business Development, Finance, HR, Operations, Senior Management, Global WeFreight OfficesEducation RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related disciplineBackground and Experience3–5 years of experience in business development or sales, ideally in freight forwarding or logisticsStrong understanding of market trends and logistics operationsProven ability to meet targets and generate new businessExperience in global trade lane development is an advantageSkilled in negotiation, strategic sales planning, and relationship managementCore Competencies (Grade D – Professional Level)Customer Focus: Builds strong client relationships and ensures customer satisfactionCommercial Acumen: Identifies opportunities for profit and growthSales Effectiveness: Skilled in pitching, negotiating, and closing dealsRelationship Management: Maintains long-term partnerships with stakeholdersCollaboration: Works across functions and regions to drive strategic goalsFunctional Competencies (Grade D – Professional Level)Market Intelligence: Analyzes data to identify growth opportunitiesTrade Lane Development: Supports corridor-specific business growthCRM & ERP Proficiency: Uses systems to track sales pipeline and client dataCross-Border Sales: Navigates international logistics and client coordinationStrategic Execution: Aligns sales plans with corporate goals and market dynamicsHow to applyPlease fill out the application form below and share your cover letter and CV.PreferencesAttach your CV*Please upload your resume in PDF (maximum file size: 1 MB).I accept to be contacted by House of Shipping in relation to my application.*“Treating all the employees equally is the most impressive thing you can get from a company.
