Job OverviewThe Senior Environmental Specialist uses their in-depth knowledge, experience of best practices, and internal/external issues to improve the Environment discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Environment discipline. They will be responsible for solving complex Environmental problems using discipline-specific knowledge and working independently with minimal guidance. The Senior Environmental Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Environment team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.Job DescriptionThe Senior Environmental Specialist uses their in-depth knowledge, experience of best practices, and internal/external issues to improve the Environment discipline within McDermott. The Senior Environmental Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Environment team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesGuide project, vessel, and facility in the implementation of company’s and site/vessel-specific Environmental terms, requirements, and deliverables, including project critical activities (e.g., Engineering, Construction, HUC, Operations, and Contractor interfaces)Identifies existing, new, and merged environmental legislation specific to the scope of work, including monitoring compliance) and interpretation of its impact on the company business planPrepare and complete environmental aspects and impacts register, ENVID, or other risk reviews, including identification of related controls to manage the environmental risks related to the scope of work and locationEnsure environmental plans, procedures, and instructions are developed and implementedPrepare and maintain the environmental legal and risk registersConduct Environmental Prequalification of subcontractors and vendors as applicablePrepare Environmental audit plans, conducting of audits, and manage corrective actionsPrepare Environmental performance reports and submission of same to the Environmental Functional Lead and Site ManagementProvide SME support to the company QHSE Straining department to include development and deliveryDevelop and oversee plans to meet facility/project Objectives, Targets, and Goals aligned to the Global and BL Strategies and O&TsLead or participate as SME in Incident Investigations and reportingLead and direct environmental investigations following incidents and or non-compliancesEnsure that corrective actions and recommendations are acted uponEnsure report completion for process and statutory requirementsProvide Environmental input into a look ahead plans and reports based on a project scheduleProvide Environmental input to MOCs and Lessons LearnedProvide Environmental input in the development and maintenance of Emergency ProceduresAttend and provide input to forums such as kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews, etc.Manage Environmental Performance Indicator data collection, ongoing reporting, tracking, and analysisImplement and support communication and awareness of environmental initiatives and campaignsSupport and provide input to the annual sustainability reportQualificationsEssential Qualifications and EducationBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, or Engineering or a related degreeAdvanced education (i.e., MBA or other master’s level education) is preferred6 years of experience within the Energy Industry and preferably within EPCI project executionTrained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001)Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leaderHave experience with technical activities, including onshore and offshore operationsMaintain key competencies associated with the Environmental functionCommunication and presentation skills, both written and spokenBe conversant with local Environmental laws, codes, regulations, and normsStatistical and data analysis abilityGood interpersonal skillsConflict Resolution and leadership skillsWillingness to travelComputer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, ExcelPreferred project management experiencePreferred knowledge of RegScan, Intelex, FigBytes, and PowerBI platformsAbout UsOur ingenuity fuels daily life.
