Senior Engineer - Monitoring

Job Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Engineer with expertise in system operations, including operational monitoring, planning, support, and control center functions. This role is crucial in overseeing system performance, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining system reliability. The ideal candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills, deep technical expertise in system operations, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and consultants. Additionally, expertise in SCADA EMS, WAMS, and DFR is required.Responsibilities:Monitor system performance parameters, including frequency, voltage, AGC performance, and AEC.Measure and monitor system inertia and assess RES intermittency and its impact on cross-border interconnection tie lines.Analyze HVDC functions such as DRPS and FC operations to ensure compliance with desired criteria, coordinating with relevant sections to address any violations or malfunctions.Review and develop daily power system monitoring reports.Analyze major incidents, including fault analysis, system response, HVDC settings, and existing voltage scheme settings.Enhance the quality of post-incident reports and ensure follow-up on remedial measures within GCCIA and Member States.Review the performance of RAS and RVCS schemes, proposing improvements as necessary.Manage operational KPIs, refine existing metrics, and develop new KPIs to enhance system performance monitoring.Review and verify system operational department KPI inputs.Review and validate Member States’ operational and control KPIs reports.Evaluate AGC performance, assess Member States' responses to system disturbances, and coordinate annual performance testing.Conduct periodical audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Conduct operational audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.Perform gap analysis on SOPs and provide recommendations.Implement relay settings and assess the results of periodic operational studies to improve system reliability and security.Review operational studies and oversee the implementation of recommendations.Conduct benchmarking to establish best practices, policies, and procedures to address operational challenges, particularly those related to high RES penetration.#J-18808-Ljbffr
