We ask employees to be present in the office at least three days per week.Are you ready to bring the right energy to Petrofac and help us deliver a better future for everyone?Job Title: Senior Drilling EngineerDepartment: Well EngineeringReports To: Wells Project ManagerLocation: Petrofac Office Based, UAEROLE PURPOSEThe Senior Drilling Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and execution support of drilling operations, ensuring delivery of wells in a safe, cost-effective, and technically optimized manner. The role includes preparing well design, tenders, drilling programs, and supporting well operations, while ensuring full compliance with HSE standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESAccountable for HSE performance, ensuring all activities comply with company, client, and regulatory requirementsLead well planning and drilling engineering design activities from concept through executionEnsure cost-effective delivery of wells aligned with project objectives and AFEInterface with project teams to align well objectives and execution strategyEnsure compliance with Well Engineering Management System (WEMS) and applicable standardsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Well Planning & DesignDevelop Basis of Well Design (BOD) and conceptual well designsDesign well trajectories, casing programs, cementing programs, and drilling fluids programsPerform drilling engineering calculations including hydraulics, torque & drag, surge/swab, and well controlUtilize industry software such as: Landmark WellPlan , StressCheck / WellCat , Compass / OpenWellsDevelop technical requirements and evaluation criteria for wells tendersPrepare scope of work (SOW), cost estimate, technical specifications, and bid evaluation reportsSupport contract strategy development and vendor selection3. Project Execution PlanningDevelop detailed drilling programs and proceduresPrepare AFE cost estimates and budgets4. Operations SupportProvide real-time technical support to drilling operationsMonitor drilling performance and ensure alignment with approved programsAnalyze drilling data and optimize performanceTroubleshoot well complications and operational challengesLiaise with rigs, service companies, and field personnel5. Cost & Performance ManagementMonitor and control drilling costs vs AFEIdentify opportunities for optimization and cost reductionTrack KPIs and well performance metricsIdentify drilling risks and uncertainties and develop mitigation plansEnsure compliance with HSE standards and well control requirementsParticipate in risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP, and well reviews7. Reporting & DocumentationPrepare:End-of-well reportsWeekly progress reportsMaintain accurate technical records and lessons learned8. Stakeholder & Team CoordinationCollaborate with:Geologists and reservoir engineers (well placement optimization)Completions and production teamsHSE and project teamsLead technical meetings and project reviewsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in petroleum, Mechanical, or related Engineering disciplineMinimum 12 years’ experience in drilling engineeringCERTIFICATIONSValid IWCF Level 4 (or equivalent well control certification)Strong knowledge of HSE standards and regulatory compliancePERSONAL COMPETENCIESStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder managementLeadership and team coordination capabilityHigh attention to detail and results-oriented mindsetStrong planning and organizational skillsPREFERRED EXPERIENCEExperience working with international operators and PMC environmentsExperience in Middle East operations, Preferred in UAEExposure to FDP development and concept selection#LI-SG1#J-18808-Ljbffr
