Senior Design Manager (Buildings)

Requisition Number: 24209BRDescriptionThe successful candidate must have experience working on building projects in the Middle East Region. Ideally, the candidate will have been responsible for managing the design process, and will support the PM with client interaction on technical design issues.The Senior Design Manager will oversee the Design Brief and scope of work to ensure the design consultant(s) are delivering to the client’s requirements. When necessary, the Senior DM will manage, develop and assist in the processing of sub consultant RFQ’s (bid stage or early design stage), provide technical support to PM for technical change requests, RFI’s, and instructions to the sub consultants.Review of Design Consultant/Contractor design proposals and end of design stage submissions.Monitor, record and action recovery plans, as necessary, by regularly monitoring design progress against project programme. The Senior DM will highlight any ‘Red Flag’ items to the Regional Director – Design Services and ensure collaboration between all disciplines to ensure work is fully coordinated.Compile and/or review technical reports for submission.Review all design packages prior to issuing from office to an external third party (client, authorities or other parties outside Stantec) and provide final QA sign off from a technical perspective against contracted deliverables.Attend and lead regular design coordination meetings related to technical issues and may also support the PM in weekly project meetings with the client, especially relating to technical matters.Ensure regular internal coordination meetings are attended by all ‘key’ disciplines, chair these sessions, record potential design issues that need to be addressed before the next meeting, and maintain an up-to-date ‘Design Issues’ log.Facilitate the technical review of all design submissions and complete reviews of related sub consultant submittals. Prepare review reports and manage sub‑consultant updates/corrections to close out.Support PM and prepare technical responses, as required, to the Client, Design Sub‑Consultant or Contractor’s Request for Information, TQ’s, etc.The Senior DM may also provide support to the Management Team in the bidding cycle and may review/prepare ‘level of effort’ estimates for required resources or variations on live projects.QualificationsBEng/BArch minimum in Architecture or a relevant engineering field.Minimum of 10 years of post‑graduate experience from an Architectural background, or related engineering discipline, managing multiple multidisciplinary design projects simultaneously.Ideally trained/registered with UK/US/Australia/Canada architecture or engineering professional body – RIBA, AIA, ICE, CIBSE, IEE, etc.Full competency in Revit/Navisworks preferable; candidates without this skillset must be willing to undertake training.Preferably from a top‑tier multidisciplinary design consultancy background.Proven project delivery history in the Middle East in a similar role/capacity.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Work Location(s): United Arab Emirates-DubaiEmployment Type: Full‑TimeJob Type: RegularJob Category: Architecture, Design#J-18808-Ljbffr
