Job Description
The Senior Delegate Sales Manager is a strategic leadership role for a highly experienced, commercially driven sales professional ready to take ownership of both personal revenue targets and the broader performance of the delegate sales function at a leading energy event.In addition to generating significant personal revenue through the sale of delegate packages to new and existing clients across the global energy sector, the Senior Manager will support, mentor and guide the wider delegate sales team – driving best practices, sharing market intelligence, and helping develop the capabilities of junior and mid-level executives.You will work with companies ranging from large international and national energy firms, oil companies (IOC/NOCs), engineering specialists, energy trading houses, legal, consultancy and governmental departments through to SMEs. You will also act as a senior point of contact for key strategic accounts and complex client relationships.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESLead by example: personally achieve and exceed senior-level delegate revenue targets while contributing positively to the wider team's performance through knowledge sharing and best practice.Act as a senior point of contact for complex client negotiations, objections and key account management, supporting colleagues where needed.Share market intelligence, sales strategies and insights with the team; contribute to a high-performance team culture.Collaborate with the Director of Delegate Sales to input into team sales plans, campaign strategies and revenue forecasts.New Business & Revenue GrowthHunter: Proactively identify and bring on new clients that have never engaged with the platform. Drive new business from outside existing databases, significantly expanding the delegate revenue base.Sell: Consult with new and existing clients to identify needs, build demand and convert delegate packages (individual and group) across target market segments.Own your portfolio: Take full personal accountability for allocated clients, geographic regions, revenue targets, new business development, activity reporting and overall KPIs.Identify: Become a recognised market expert through ongoing analysis of the delegate landscape — including client research, stakeholder mapping, market segmentation, industry trends and competitive event monitoring.Create: Assess and help improve customer retention and acquisition strategies by building customer insight and translating findings into product development or targeted messaging.Participate: Collaborate with marketing, data and sales teams to accurately target prospective delegate organisations; help build and refine target lists aligned with live campaign performance.Event & Client EngagementCollaborate: Work with the entire event team to ensure delegate requirements and expectations are fully met pre-, at- and post-event.Hands on: Attend the conference with the objective of re‑signing existing delegates and securing advance commitments from attending companies for the following year's event.Engage: Deliver against personal and team sales plans, meeting and exceeding KPI targets, working with marketing on ongoing campaigns and collateral.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLSTechnical / FunctionalA proven and sustained track record of achieving and exceeding targeted B2B conference delegate sales – ideally in the energy sector. Candidates should have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in delegate or conference sales, operating at a senior level.Evidence of a highly structured, consultative sales approach: objection handling is second nature; logical questioning is used to establish real needs and drive effective conversations and closures.Excellent command of concise, effective written and spoken sales proposals in business English. Additional languages are a strong advantage — particularly Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Bahasa, Chinese or Japanese.Commercially astute: natural with numbers, confident in building complex, tailored client packages and managing senior-level commercial conversations.Highly self‑motivated, proactive and ambitious, with a strong sense of both personal accountability and team responsibility.Ability to self‑plan, multi‑task, prioritise competing demands and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.Strong customer service focus with confident interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate credibly at all levels — from procurement through to C‑suite.Experienced in leveraging databases, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms to identify and target prospective clients and build sales campaigns.Proficient in Salesforce or equivalent CRM, Adobe (PDF), and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).dmg events is an equal opportunity employer.
