Job Description

Job OverviewSenior Civil/Structural Designer completes a variety of Civil/Structural Design assignments as needed and can complete work with a limited degree of supervision. They are an informal resource for colleagues with less Civil/Structural Design experience. The Senior Civil/Structural Designer has developed proficiency in a range of analytical processes or procedures to carry out assigned tasks. They provide solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures. They directly impact the quality of the work of the team.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and develop arrangement and detail design drawings of high technical quality and professional consistent presentation, ensuring clarity and ease of constructionDevelop 3D modelsEnsure work complies with MDR and project QA and/or QC systems and proceduresApply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned workContinue developing skills to efficiently complete repetitive tasksManage own time to meet deadlines set by othersBecome fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address themPrepare Civil and Structural layouts from data generated by others, in close liaison with Civil and Structural Engineers and counterparts from other disciplinesEnsure that the work is carried out in accordance with McDermott requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures with a particular focus on Health and Safety PoliciesDevelop 3D models and ensure clash‑free coordination with all other disciplines’ requirementsOrganize own design workCheck designs, with particular emphasis on interfaces with other disciplinesProvide drafting support as requiredReview other discipline drawingsReview supplier drawingsReports ToProject: Lead Designer, Lead EngineerFunctional: Supervising Department ManagerLiaise With: Engineers, other Designers, and Senior DesignersSupervises: Associate DesignersQualificationsHigh School graduate with a diploma in Civil or Structural disciplines or equivalent experience5 years minimum with a major contractor or consultantKnowledge of associated industry detailing standardsKnowledge of 2D and/or 3D drafting systems (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)Knowledge of E3D and/or S3DKnowledge of AutoCAD and/or AutoLisp programming, 3D modeling, and 2D drafting menu or macro compilation skillsEager to learnWorking knowledge of English, both oral and writtenHSE, TQM, and cost‑consciousShow flexibility and ensure proper hand‑over with regards to: the reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards; the replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays; the provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workload (also other projects) when possible/desirable; the managing/learning of future current working methods and software applicationsFamiliar with the use of codes and standardsAbout UsOur ingenuity fuels daily life.
