Job DescriptionGEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher (KS3 & KS4) with a specialism in Physics or Chemistry to join our school community from August 2026. The successful candidate will inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering high‑quality lessons that ignite curiosity, deepen scientific understanding, and foster a love for learning. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student progress within a supportive and collaborative teaching environment.Overall Function and PurposeTo teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by the National Curriculum Framework under the overall guidance of the competent education authority. Teach and assess assigned students according to their educational needs and deliver the relevant curriculum, ensuring that each student achieves academic success. Contribute to the wider school community.Main ResponsibilitiesDeliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.Ensure a safe, clean, clutter‑free, conducive environment that optimises great student outcomes.Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to all students in the class according to their varying abilities.Teach according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.Adopt and work towards the implementation of the school development plan of the school.Assign working, correct and mark work carried out by students. Mark according to the school’s marking policy.Set the highest expectations for every child in the class and assist learners to realize their potential which will enable them to work in a manner that shows the high standards in the workbooks.Assess, record and report on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s students.Analyse data and use it to adapt classroom practice to ensure all learners achieve their full potential.Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students.Participate in arrangements within an agreed national framework for the appraisal of students’ performance.Promote the general progress and well‑being of individual students, groups of students or class entrusted to him/her.Provide guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and on their further education and targets.Communicate, consult and co‑operate with other members of the school staff, including those having posts of special responsibility and parents/guardians.Review and evaluate one’s own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies and programme/s in line with the National Curriculum Framework guidelines in order to improve teaching and learning in the classroom.Advise and co‑operate with the Head of School, Deputy Heads, Assistant Head Teachers, Heads of Years, Education Officers, and other teachers in the preparation and development of curriculum design, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral care arrangements.Ensure high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the subject/s. Through effective dialogue, participate in reciprocal peer review and observation of class teaching practice by the Head of Year.Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities, and take part in action research exercises.Maintain good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.Report all concerns that jeopardise the safety of the learner, whether emotional or physical, to the safeguarding officer of the school.Participate in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum or pastoral care arrangements, for the better organisation and administration of the school.Contribute to the professional development of new teachers and student teachers according to arrangements agreed with the Head of School.Provide the necessary information and advice to the designated personnel in the school and to provide all the necessary information regarding requisitions and arrangements in connection with the teaching of the subject/s assigned to him/her.Ensure the safe custody and optimum use of equipment normally used by oneself during lessons and see to its regular servicing and maintenance.Ensure the safe custody of the laptop, white board pen and remote given to him/her upon commencement.Participate in school assemblies and parent assemblies as stipulated by Head of Primary.Attend the termly parent meetings as per the policy.Register and monitor the attendance of students under one’s care and follow up on the same day if a student is absent.Ensure that the attendance is marked regularly and timeously every day.Share in any possible and reasonable way in the effective management, organisation, order and discipline of the school.Nurture a
