Registered Nurse - OPD (Urology)

<div><p>The post holder will always work within the scope of practice, putting the health, wellbeing and safety of their patient first as they assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.</li><li>Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.</li><li>Perform systematic patient assessment, re-assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.</li><li>Understand and analyse the assessment information and data.</li><li>Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.</li><li>Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care.</li><li>Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team, in collaboration with the patient and patient's bystanders.</li><li>Record vital signs, recognize, address and facilitate escalation of all abnormalities.</li><li>Maintain and update technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.</li><li>Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.</li><li>Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.</li><li>Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life Support.</li><li>Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.</li><li>Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.</li><li>Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.</li><li>Provide wound care management.</li><li>Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.</li><li>Facilitate the process of safe patient admission, transfer and discharge.</li><li>Competent with all the mandatory and unit specific competencies supported and assigned on the Elsevier platform to ensure adherence to evidence‑based practices.</li><li>Demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures, equipment, and protocols relevant to the department.</li><li>Participate in ongoing programs and certification to support professional growth and maintain clinical competency.</li><li>Comply with unit Scope of Service.</li><li>Demonstrate understanding&utilisation of evidence‑based health care.</li><li>Perform nursing care for patients who visit the Outpatient department in an environment that optimises patient safety and reduces the likelihood of health‑care errors.</li><li>Must have excellent observation skills, be able to think critically and to make quick and effective decisions.</li><li>Perform procedure like (not limited to):<ul><li>Uroflometry</li></ul></li><li>Assist with procedures (not limited to):<ul><li>Urodynamic study</li><li>Bladder Scan</li><li>Cystoscopy</li><li>Prostate Biopsy</li><li>Bacillus Calmette‑Guerin treatment for transitional cell carcinoma</li><li>Excision of skin lesion or cyst</li><li>Laser Hemorrhoidectomy</li><li>Urethral Dilatation</li><li>Suprapubic Catheterisation</li><li>Bladder Biopsy</li><li>Suturing</li><li>Catheterisation</li></ul></li><li>Complete care&safety of patients in the assigned clinic.</li><li>Organisation of assigned duties.</li><li>Accurately monitor&record patient’s condition.</li><li>Ensures investigation reports are available for consultation if applicable.</li><li>Perform assessment and reassessments on patient as per assessment policy.</li><li>Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.</li><li>Report any abnormality in patient’s condition immediately to the medical staff and escalates as and when required.</li><li>Preparation of patient for emergency surgeries.</li><li>Competent in all aspects of nursing care.</li><li>Document on patient record as per current standards and policies.</li><li>Assist physician with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.</li><li>Perform routine and advanced nursing procedures/skills.</li><li>Able to function efficiently in patients’ care within the assigned clinic and relieve other nursing units in the hospital if necessary.</li><li>Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order, reporting any fault to Nurse Manager/Engineering.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience mandated.</li><li>Manage their own professional re‑licensure.</li><li>Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.</li><li>Be willing to work across departments and on call as necessary.</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
