Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.Job DescriptionStrategic Growth & Market DevelopmentIdentify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities in turbomachinery applicationsLead strategic initiatives including methane emission-related DGS retrofits and upgrades.Maintain opportunities database in assigned geographical areaBuild and maintain long‑term customer relationships through partnerships, frame agreements, and stakeholder management (OEMs, ISPs, EU teams).Support segmentation strategies to target high‑value End Users for upgrades and retrofits.Deliver technical and commercial presentations to drive customer understanding and adoption.Technical Leadership & InnovationProvide expert consultancy across the John Crane Turbo portfolio.Liaising with PLM, collect/monitor competitor intelligence and activities, focusing on strengths, weaknesses and the threat to JC & the opportunities for JC.Promote new product opportunities through customer dialogue and market analysis.Team & Capability DevelopmentAlign cross‑functional teams (engineering, product, marketing, operations) to deliver tailored solutionsKey AccountabilitiesIdentify, research, and pursue new markets, customers, and project opportunities.Develop and execute strategies to generate leads and convert them into salesWork closely with engineering, product, marketing, and operations to align business goals and deliver tailored solutionsProvide customer feedback to inform product development or service improvementsMonitor industry trends, client demands, and competitor activity to inform business strategyIdentify risks and opportunities in the market landscapeQualificationsUniversity Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar fieldProven experience working in a BDM role in rotating equipment industryProven experience with understanding business / customer needs across a global organisationProven experience in matrix and multicultural environmentsTechnical knowledge of all John Crane turbo productsStrong understanding of turbomachinery systems, their applications, and technical sales processesExcellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skillsExperience with long sales cycles and high‑value capital equipment or servicesAdditional InformationWith colleagues stretching across the globe, we are proud of our diversity.
