Production engineer - structural (qfab)

Reports To:Functionally to Operation Engineering Manager. Operationally to Fabrication Operations Engineer.Company:Qatar Fabrication CompanyLocation:Ras Laffan / QatarPREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO QATARI CANDIDATESTasks and Responsibilities – Discipline SpecificDeveloping Project Fabrication Procedures.Initiates material procurement for fabrication aids.Initiate RFQ for work to be subcontracted.Review drawings for constructability.Initiate assembly checklist for all major construction milestones.Leads WCR review and confirmation of WT before lifts, loadout, weighing.Manages all coordination for loadout preparation and weighing.Carries out coordination with Marine and Fab Team for installation aids, sea fastening and offshore lift rigging.Carries out coordination with CSE Department and Marine Warranty Surveyor.Publishes CSE deliverable list with required dates. Chairs CSE coordination meeting.Provide yard layout input with regards to layout, stack, and loadout dates.Tasks and Responsibilities – GeneralUnderstands the full contractual scope of work, contract type and milestone schedules.Participates in development of project fabrication execution plan to meet contract requirements most productively.Develops a work pack index and sets priorities and ROS dates for deliverables.Prepare project specific task listing.At commencement of the project participate in fabrication kick-off meeting.Forecast fabrication requirements (deliverable inputs) to meet the project contract schedule.Coordinates with MTO, warehouse, drafting teams to issue work packs.Review and understand manhour estimate. Ensure estimates are correct. Provide feedback to the estimation department where required.Issues work packs and follows up all activities for work pack execution.Carries out progress reporting on the project.Reviews weekly fabrication progress reports for progress and productivity. Acts on anomalies.Responsible for documenting all scopes of work changes (change orders) and coordinating AFC estimate updates.Reviews input deliverable forecast dates (material & drawings) and advises impact to fabrication schedule.Appraises Senior Production Engineer or Fabrication Operations Engineer of any project issues which affect the forecasted progress, productivity, and schedule commitments.Prepare technical queries/correspondence to be issued to the client.Provides field guidance to meet project specifications, schedule, and targets.Participates and provides feedback on regular sites and look ahead meetings.Coordinates with subcontractors for completion of work.Raises variance orders to capture extra works not part of AFC estimates.Identify items requiring support from the construction engineering team. Coordinates and follows up to get required input.Prepares project fabrication lessons learnt.Other ExpectationsParticipates in QHSES initiatives and drives achieving objectives.Follow the company policies.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsQualificationsBachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or equivalentExperience4+ years in Offshore and Petrochemical Industry or equivalent.Preferably worked as an Engineer in executing Construction projects.
