Job description2. JOB PURPOSEA Product Owner creates product roadmap and defines the strategic vision for their team driven by the overall vision. They have a deep understanding of the target market/industry and build close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the team’s effort is aligned with overall strategy. A Product Owner manages dependencies with other team’s functions while identifying, building and managing strategic partnership across the different teams. They work closely within their team to ensure business value and user feedback is translated into new developments when necessary. Product owners will be accountable for specific business KPIs based on the area of the product they are focused on.3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESSet ambitious and clear product vision and communicate it effectively to stakeholders, the team, and the rest of the unitEnd to end team output strategy from inception to productionCollaboration with stakeholders to ensure digital vision and products align within team strategy and requirementsAccountable for product specific KPIs once solution enters production and communicate regular tracking to stakeholdersUtilize market and industry knowledge to translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for their team. Maintain a backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the teamDeliver multiple, concurrent projects and business area backlog items with responsibility for all business change elementsLead and coordinate change activity, working with lead translators / program managers to maintain a strategic delivery roadmapManage projects of varying ‘scale’ as well as business area backlog items from idea through to delivery and closure, adopting proportionate governance and using the established change delivery frameworkMaintain momentum and direction, delivering to the agreed scope, timeframe and budget with resource planning and accurate estimation treated as fundamental principlesPractise a progressive stakeholder management approach, building invested relationships, and where appropriate, employing an agreed engagement & communication planActively manage project risks, issues and dependenciesPlan and coordinate work with other internal departments to ensure internal resource requirements are understood and the right resources are available when requiredDirect the activities of third‑party providers (vendors, consultants etc.), ensuring delivery to time, quality and budgetReport progress to Lead translator and other business senior members through established monthly reporting or equivalent.Facilitates release planning with stakeholders as well as weekly demosIs a key role on Agile team(s) and works onsite with the team on a daily basisIntegrates usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and ensure customer driven designAlign outward facing product requirements and stakeholders4. AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKINGThinking within broadly defined policies, standards and objectives. The determination of “what needs to be done” in applying polices is largely left up to the incumbent who must establish the plan, determine the priorities and prescribe the processes needed to achieve the objectivesssSubject to general direction and broadly defined functional policy objectives. Actions which will impact other functional or operating areas usually require approval before they may be implemented.5. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSMinimum QualificationsBachelors/Masters degree in engineering or relevant business functionMinimum ExperienceOverall 7 years’ experience with minimum of 4 years in metal and mining industry and energy. Good experience profile leading agile projects as a product owner and as a scrum master.Formal Project Management QualificationPMP, PRINCE2, Agile Project Management or equivalentAdditional Experience & KnowledgeProven understanding of project management techniques in an agile environmentExcellent project coordinator that can plan 2-3 steps ahead of the team and surface hidden risks 2‑3 levels deep within the team.Proven knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the relevant industryExcellent Knowledge and understanding of technical engineering best practices (e.g., test driven development, continuous integration, etc.)Proven knowledge and understanding of standard precision practices, technology and supporting industry principlesExcellent knowledge on tracking and analytics setupProficient with drawing storyboards, creating wireframes, creating / ‘grooming’ product backlogs, writing user stories and developing acceptance criteriaRelentless prioritization and alignment with business and IT stakeholders to ensure highest value captureExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior client business and IT executives on transforming towards agileAbility to move between strategic discussions with senior business leaders to tackle on the ground agile coaching with teamsStrong collaborator wit
