Principal Lead- Data Governance Enablement

Overall objectivesTo lead and enable the effective execution of the enterprise-wide data governance strategy by driving adoption of data governance standards facilitating business engagement and ensuring alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements. The role will champion data ownership stewardship and quality practices across the bank to support trusted high-quality data assets for business decision-making and regulatory compliance.The Principal Lead Data Governance Enablement will play a critical role in driving the adoption embedding and operationalization of the banks enterprise-wide Data Governance Framework. This role is responsible for enabling and empowering business and functional areas to take accountability for their data through structured ownership stewardship and data quality practices.The Principal data governance Lead  will focus on translating the data governance strategy into actionable programs and processes ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations organizational objectives and industry best practices. Through strong engagement and influence this role will foster a culture where data is recognized and treated as a critical business asset driving value creation regulatory compliance and informed decision-making across the bank.Additionally the Principal Lead will ensure the effective utilization of data governance tools frameworks and technologies transformation to enhance FABs data management capabilities and will serve as a key advisor and champion for elevating data governance maturity across all business units and international locations.driving compliance with regulatory expectations (e.g. CBUAENDMO   BCBS239 PDPL) and alignment with Group strategy.Transformation Enable AI-powered cloud-aligned data & AI  governance capabilities Agentic AI  through tools like Informatica (AXON EDC IDQ CLAIRE GPT data bricks Azure ) and any future emerging technology supporting advanced data quality metadata intelligence and ethical AI oversight across the data lifecycle.Drive cross-functional business engagement and data culture transformation through structured data literacy programs ownership frameworks and Data Governance CommitteesRole specific responsibilitiesDrive the execution of the data governance enablement agenda ensuring alignment to the banks strategic objectives and regulatory expectations.Lead engagement with business and functional data owners and stewards to embed ownership stewardship and accountability for data assets.Develop and maintain data governance playbooks guidelines and processes to support consistency and adherence across the bank.Support the Head of Data Governance in reporting governance performance data quality metrics and remediation progress to senior forums and regulators.Enable the effective use of data governance technologies and tools to operationalize data governance processes and controls.Champion continuous improvement initiatives to mature the banks data governance capabilities and foster a culture of data accountability. evolve the enterprise data governance strategy by embedding adaptive frameworks that align with evolving regulatory mandates (e.g. CBUAE open banking Regulatory reporting ) and future-proof the organization for AI-driven real-time data ecosystems.Support the Head of Data Governance to operationalize AI-augmented data governance using next-gen tools (e.g. Informatica CLAIRE GPT Azure CoPilot Databricks Unity Catalog Agentic AI ) to automate data lineage classification quality monitoring and policy enforcement across hybrid cloud environments.Support the Head of Data Governance  to Embed data ownership and stewardship accountability into business processes by institutionalizing federated models smart workflows and intelligent dashboards enabling business-led governance at scale across global and regional operations. with frequent review and enhancement of policies and SOPsProactively mitigate data risks across the First Line of Defense by integrating automated risk assessments control monitoring (via RCSA) and regulatory audit preparedness into data governance operationsaligning with predictive risk intelligence and real-time compliance models.
