Postdoctoral Associate in Population Health SciencesJoin to apply for the Postdoctoral Associate in Population Health Sciences role at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar.Job: Postdoctoral Associate in Population Health SciencesWork Location: WCM-Q QatarWork Days: Sunday-ThursdayClassification: Full TimePosting End Date: 02/28/2026Position SummaryThe position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data using advanced mathematical and computational models to support project-related research on the biomedical and behavioral dimensions of population dynamics for both communicable and non-communicable diseases.Job ResponsibilitiesDevelop mathematical models describing disease dynamics and the impact of interventions.Formulate hypotheses independently and perform comprehensive data analysis using mathematical modeling across multiple research projects.Develop, validate, and maintain deterministic, stochastic compartmental, and individual-based models to support disease-related investigations.Partner with principal investigators and multidisciplinary research teams to co-develop study designs, and define robust computational plans aligned with research aims.Interpret modeling outcomes and prepare reports, visualizations, and scientific manuscripts summarizing findings and contribute to manuscripts and grant submissions.Write and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals that highlight research findings.Present research results in internal meetings and external scientific conferences.Maintain accurate documentation of analytical methods, results, and project progress.Research articles with respect to the assigned study, keep up to date with the latest developments and identify areas of improvement.Guide team members on the effective use of tools, methods and workflows as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and ExperiencePh.D. in Mathematical Epidemiology, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of mathematical modeling frameworks, including deterministic and stochastic approaches.Extensive knowledge of quantitative methods including differential and integral equations, nonlinear dynamics, probability theory, and stochastic processes.Expert at scientific computing, including programming, numerical analysis, symbolic and logical analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, and computer graphics.Extensive knowledge in use of scientific computing tools such as MATLAB, Mathematica, and Berkeley Madonna, and statistical software including SPSS and R.Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with an eye for detail.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in demanding timeframes.Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation (QF). The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at the university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated Six-Year Medical Program that incorporates pre‑medical and medical studies and leads to the Cornell University M.D. degree.Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) who hold Weill Cornell appointments.
