Job Description

OverviewSupervises the operations of assigned areas within the Pharmacy Department. Utilizes performance improvement program and JCIA standards in monitoring, and evaluating pharmacy services. Accountable for staff, services provided, and level of performance within assigned areas.Abu Dhabi Healthcare Company (SEHA) is the largest and most comprehensive healthcare network in the UAE that was established in 2007 with the objective of operating all public hospitals and clinics across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.SEHA is committed to delivering world-class healthcare services using the most advanced diagnostics and systems across its network of public healthcare centers and hospitals in addition to partnering with global leaders in healthcare, including world renowned organizations such as the Mayo Clinic.Key ResponsibilitiesManagerial – Supervise the day to day activities of assigned service area, and report these to the manager as required.Managerial – Provide data as required by the manager related to productivity, workload, quality, etc.Managerial – Assist manager in the development and promotion of medication management and use processes that improve patient outcomes, including responsibility for the development of medication management policies, protocols, initiatives and guidance and implementation of regulatory requirements. Monitor response to identified issues and facilitate resolution through the relevant channels as required.Managerial – Monitor assigned service areas’ performance as well as staff performance.Managerial – Practice accountability and follow up with staff.Managerial – Provide support, coaching and assistance to all staff in their service area.Managerial – Participate in the initiation and implementation of department wide projects.Managerial – Recommend and oversee service expansion or enhancement in line with the overall vision of the department.Managerial – Assist manager in overseeing staff including objective setting, annual leave, supervision and reflective practice.Managerial – Ensure close collaboration while working with other senior staff as appropriate.Managerial – Balance patient related and professional activities in accordance with departmental objectives.Technical – Deal with patients and clinical staff initial enquiries and relay issues to clinical staff when necessary.Technical – Ensure the safe and competent use of all pharmacy equipment used in their service area.Technical – Contribute to the patient safety initiatives through identification of clinical risks in their service area.Technical – Ensure all incidents and areas of risk are followed up and risk issues are communicated back to the appropriate stakeholders.Technical – Participate in patient-centered pharmacetucail care throughout the entire medication use process.Technical – Ensure that appropriate procedures are being followed for dispensing medication prescriptions.Technical – Ensure maintenance of the required records of dispensing.Technical – Ensure real-time collaboration with healthcare providers to create cost-effective medication care plans.Technical – Maintain control and security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.Technical – Support and encourage medication error reporting throughout the organization through a non-punitive error reporting system, and a just culture.Technical – Ensure compliance with federal and local rules and regulations in regard to pharmacy activities, including but not limited to preparation, labeling and delivery of medication and other pharmaceutical supplies.Technical – Oversee the management of investigational drugs in research programs, as applicable.Technical – Oversee proper inventory management of their area of service, and communicate with stakeholders as necessary.Technical – Perform other related duties as assigned.Quality & Regulatory – Ensure the safe and competent use of all equipment, patient appliances and aids used by patients in their service area.Quality & Regulatory – Ensure that all incidents and complaints at service level are reported immediately for appropriate action to be taken, as per organization’s policy.Quality & Regulatory – Ensure that medications are stored appropriately and securely.Quality & Regulatory – Supervise compliance with regulations for environmental safety and infection control, amongst others.Quality & Regulatory – Ensure patient confidentiality.Quality & Regulatory – Ensure that standard operation procedures (SOP) and quality assurance tests are maintained within their area of service.Quality & Regulatory – Oversee the documentation of interventions in the most appropriate format.Quality & Regulatory – Communicate in a professional manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for patient records, explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate status.Quality & Regulatory – Interact professionally with departmen
