Path 1 Kawader: Research Assistant - Center for Smart Engineering Materials

OverviewThe Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM), New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for Kawader fellows in the areas of thermal, mechanical and electrical characterization of materials.The candidate will work as a research fellow with the CSEM and the Smart Materials Lab (Naumov research group). The role involves preparing, characterizing and testing new smart materials at the intersection of materials science, chemistry, and engineering. The position requires a strong background in thermal or mechanical characterization of the surface and bulk properties of solids, from either science (solid-state physics) or engineering (mechanical). The research projects will focus on both experimental and modeling aspects of the effects of temperature on mechanical properties, such as elastic or plastic deformation. The candidate will conduct experiments related to assigned research projects, process the data, and prepare results for presentation in articles and conferences. Biweekly reports on research and participation in group seminars are expected. Training students (e.g., capstone students or interns) and other researchers on techniques within the research domain is also part of the role.
