OverviewThe post holder is responsible for assisting lawyers, carrying out legal research and managing litigation and complaints.ResponsibilitiesDrafts legal documents and correspondence for the lawyers reviewOrganizes and maintains documents in a paper or electronic filing systemCoordinates the collection, review and production of documentsMaintains a law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumesGathers and analyze laws, regulations, court decisions, legal articles, documents and other dataInvestigates case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sourcesCompiles information and prepares statistics, charts, graphs and other summaries to detail the findingsAssists in the preparation, filing and service of all court documentsSummarizes depositions, interrogatories and testimonyOrganizes exhibit and assist with other tasks as requiredActs as a liaison between the Legal Department and the outside counsel or the court, for the purpose of scheduling and sharing informationDirects and coordinates external law firms activity, including delivery and receipt of legal documentationAttends incident or complaint related meetings as requested by the General Counsel from time to time and minute such meetings for the General Counsel’s informationOversees complaints lodged by employees or other affected parties to assist the lawyers to reach a determination and provide a legal opinionFacilitates and file complaints and case with the Police and ProsecutorAccountabilitiesManages to give accurate legal direction to the leadership teams and staff on all matters that influence SSMCDeals with the compliance, risk management for in-house counsel and other legal administrators groups with complete accuracyEnsures SSMC is in compliance with all present business process lawsQualificationsExperienceRequired:2-3 years of progressive legal responsibility in a law firm or in-houseDesired:Experience in a large healthcare facilityEducational Qualification:Required:Bachelor's DegreeDesired:Bachelor’s in Law or Business AdministrationAbout UsAt SSMC, we firmly believe that the human touch is a fundamental part of care.
