Job SummaryBased at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Fleet Technical Superintendent is responsible for supporting and managing the repairs, maintenance, and general upkeep of the P&O Maritime Logistics Fleet in the most cost‑effective and efficient way.Key AccountabilitiesMain fleet-wide responsibilities would include but not be limited to:Controlling and managing: dockings, special surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, major accidents/ incidents, and projects.Supporting technical procurement, insurance matters, and P&I claims.Providing overall technical support for any of the above activities and ensuring on‑time and on‑budget completion.In conjunction with regional technical personnel, prepare timely, detailed, and accurate project/job/docking specifications.Liaise with central procurement for sourcing cost‑effective spare parts and ensure they are at the work site when required.Travel to vessels or sites to support the above activities as and when required.Manage the activities and involvement of support functions including yard personnel, OEM service engineers, sub‑contractors, and service providers.Interact with regional offices to promote a good working relationship and ensure effective communication and support.Liaise with country managers and regional technical parties regarding any technical issue.In conjunction with group legal and central procurement, interact with insurance brokers and underwriters in the follow‑up and reporting of all technical claims.Planning and Cost ControlHave significant input into the preparation of project/docking/repair specifications including liaising with central procurement to identify and source suitable vendors, services and equipment.In conjunction with central procurement negotiate with equipment and material providers, suppliers, vendors, OEMs and other service providers to optimize purchasing costs and ensure technical compatibility.Oversee and have input into the preparation of tender documents, establishing costs/budgets/programs and participate in bid/tender evaluations.Ensure regular feedback on docking/project costs and schedules, report deviations and effectively monitor and control at all times.Contribute to the appraisal and selection of repair yards and technical service providers.Strictly control the technical costs of vessels in line with the agreed budget/requirements and report any deviations to management.Support and monitor onboard planned preventive maintenance to ensure cost‑effective management and effective implementation.In conjunction with the Senior Fleet Technical Superintendent (SFTS) assist in the preparation of individual vessel and fleet annual docking/survey/project/upgrade budgets, including the preparation of an annual fleet docking/survey plan for approval by the Head of Technical.ReportingProvide written daily project/docking status reports to the SFTS, detailing activities, yard/contractor performance and recording any events that may be needed to support cost reductions and claims at a later date.Ensure all relevant information regarding a vessel repair/docking is updated in the NS5 system.Prepare reports as directed by STFS or the Head of Technical.Planned Maintenance System (NS5)Co‑operate with the Planned Maintenance System (NS5) team to support implementation and ensure effective use of the management system.Participate in periodic review and evaluation of the NS5 system to determine that it is being effectively utilized, identify deficiencies, and recommend improvements.Other FunctionsUnderstand internal and customer organization, assets, investment strategy, fleet operations and priorities.Maintain high technical knowledge and ensure personal development through training and self‑development.Participate in annual reviews and evaluate projects to determine success and how improvements can be made in the future; report and present findings.Qualifications & ExperienceMarine Engineering Class 1 Motor (Class 2 may be considered based upon experience); orEngineering/Naval Architecture degree; orMaster of Engineering Sciences, Mechanics or Electromechanical Engineering; orMaster of Industrial Sciences (option Electromechanical Engineering).Sea experience as chief engineer on offshore support vessels and having held a supervisory shore‑based position for minimum 5 years; or10 years of shore experience as Technical/Dry Docking Superintendent.Key AttributesTechnical expertise in design, development and systems integration.Technical drawing reading/design capabilities (CAD).Experience and knowledge of major class society requirements (ABS, DNV‑GL, BV).In‑depth planned maintenance system knowledge (AMOS, NS5).About UsP&O Maritime Logistics (POML) is a leading provider of marine solutions with a focus on offshore energy, port services and logistics.
