Optics Applications Engineer - Pre-Sales & Training

The Optics Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging engineering domain knowledge and expertise to assist customers in solving complex engineering problems using Ansys Optics products – primarily Ansys Speos and Ansys Zemax OpticStudio software. This role focuses primarily on pre- sales activities but also involves providing technical support. The engineer will support customers to significantly impact software revenue, offering technical solutions, conducting demonstrations, and delivering training sessions.Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.Apply advanced engineering expertise and knowledge of optics (with a strong focus on Ansys Speos and Ansys Zemax OpticStudio) to provide the highest level of technical support to customers, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.Work closely with potential and current customers to scope technical solutions that meet and optimize their operational needsCollaborate with account managers to identify, advance, and technically drive new opportunity and sustained account supportProvide, track, and document first level technical support for existing customer accounts and elevate support when appropriateDevelop, organize, and deliver introductory technical training courses on the use of ANSYS Optics productsMaintain a general understanding of the breadth of technology provided by all ANSYS product offerings and technical solutions in optical applicationsSustain technical proficiency through ANSYS certifications and continual pursuit of personal, technical, and professional growthParticipate in and support internal marketing initiatives that drive customer engagement, education, and grow technical capacityEducation/Experience/Skills: (Required)Requires a Minimum Master of Science Degree in Physical/Optical Engineering or related fieldRequires a Minimum of 2 years’ experience using Ansys Zemax Optics Studio or SpeosRequires Strong Knowledge of Optical Design for Automotive Camera sensor-related applications or Optical Imaging in the Aerospace and Defense market.Experience with optical system optimization to achieve desired performance metricsExperience with designing and analyzing laser systems, including beam shaping and focusingKnowledge of optical aberrations and methods to minimize themRequires the ability to work effectively in both independent and diverse team environmentsRequires excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop practical engineering solutions to difficult problemsRequires exceptional customer service aptitude, as well as communication and presentation skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office tools to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is requiredEducation/Experience/Skills: (Preferred)In-depth use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, PLMsoftware packagesUnderstanding of ray tracing principles and their application in optical simulationsUnderstanding of light source modeling and light distribution controlKnowledge of Ansys Lumerical (photonics) products is a plusFamiliarity with beam propagation and diffraction analysisFamiliarity with common programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.) is a plusAbility to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.Ability to manage multiple projects and to communicate effectively#J-18808-Ljbffr
